I lost half my total blood volume yesterday.

Posted from the ambulance:

"Ask the guy who’s bleeding to death" (Need answers quick!)

Hope you’re home soon.

Good lord - please get well soon!

Heh… before I delivered Moon Unit (this was before the SDMB existed), I was being prepped for an emergency c-section and managed to send out an email announcing this. Right-handed typing only; they were installing an IV in the left hand. So yeah, I understand the urge to post at odd moments!

Oh, and Fear Itself… uh, nice try with the whole “bleeding to death” thing   . Most of the time when one endeavors to do something, it’s to be encouraged, and deplored if one fails.

I’m really, really glad you failed!!!

Get better soon, mkay?

:: Silently pushing bowl of tomato soup away ::

Hey, if you’re not going to eat that…

</hungry>

What put me in the hospital with a bleeder was the '86 playoffs, Game 6, between the Astros and the Mets. So… am I to assume you really, really take the start of the season seriously?

Update: feeling better after 4 units of blood and several liters of saline. I have to stay in hosp. til sun. No food or drink for 48 hours. Damn food network. More later.

glad to hear it.

Good Lord! Get better! I’m glad you’re feeling better, but you’re not well, yet, it seems.

When you do feel better, I’d like to hear what symptoms, and complaints, you had that warned you of this problem.

But that can wait til you’re safe at home.

Get better, dammit.

Yeah, but look at the capitalization and spelling mistakes he made… :stuck_out_tongue:

You have nothing to fear.

Oh shit! Wait a second! You are Fear Itself! You only have to fear YOU! And I hate to point out, but you’ve got plenty of reason right now to fear you!

Nursecarmen lights his hair on fire and starts running in circles.
egad, I’m no good at emergencies.

I’m glad you’re feeling better.

So what do they do to make an ulcer stop bleeding?

A nurse who is no good at emergencies? It’s possible you chose the wrong profession.

:smack: :smack: :smack:

Man, even after Absolute hinted at this I still didn’t get the joke behind Fear’s name.

That’s what nearly killed my husband.

Good luck on recovery & at least you got it caught & treated.

Wow… that’s about the most eye-opening OP I’ve ever read. Take care and stay safe. If the Dope helps you recover, I’d say “Post away!”

Sending lots of healing thoughts your way…

CHANGE the channel! That’s torture to watch the Food Network when you’re npo. Masochist! Glad you’re better.

Jeez, you’re tough…no slack for someone who lost half his blood volume? I’m surprised he even had the presense of mind to think “must…post…to…SDMB…just…in…case…”

When I was NPO for the better part of a week in January 2007 I wanted to scream - EVERY channel have food commercials EVERY damn commercial break!

Get better!

Sorry to hear your news. Sending healing thoughts your way!
