I lost half my total blood volume yesterday.

Apparently i haue a bleeding duodenal ulcer. I nearly bled out. Posting from phone in the icu.

Holy crap, that sounds scary. Get well soon!

Holy shit. Surgery? Or merely volume replacement so far?
ETA: Well, you have two dopers praying to feces for you.

They have hospitals in New Hampshire? No shit?

Wow, good luck, and I wish you the best in rcovery.

I think your addiction to the boards may have crossed a line.

Put the phone down. Step back. Breath deeply.

Now, dammit, get better.

I’m relieved to know you’re okay. Maybe when you’re better you’ll tell us the symptoms you exhibited prior to this discovery. Who knows, maybe you could save someone else?

Those things are sneaky and evil. I’m glad you made it to the hospital in time.

Damn. That’s scary! Hope you’re feeling better quickly!

OTOH, I spent all day Monday in the ER, and didn’t feel the need to even read the Dope, let alone post. Has it occurred to you that you might have an addiction?. . .

Holy shit! Glad you made it through. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Dude, I’ve had the same and they’re no fun. Sneaky and evil is right… sneaky because there’s no real pain and evil because, well, you’re bleeding!

Possibly TMI…

No appetite because your stomach is full of blood? Nauseous until you throw up blood? Blood in stool?

I’m sorry, Fear Itself, but thank goodness you’re in a safe place and they know what’s the matter. Good luck and when you come back, bring O+.

Dude. That sounds scary and painful. Glad you’re getting it taken care of now.

that’s too funny. Get better soon,** FearItself. ** No worries; we’ll be here when you get discharged.

Don’t worry, you have nothing to fear but…

Get well soon! And aren’t you supposed to turn your phone off in hospitals?

Stewie Griffin is traveling in a miniaturized space ship heading for your sperm.

Get well soon.

Dude, I just realized – you posted from a *dial-up * connection! Through an automated switchboard! You are a god to me!

Oh, yeah, and about that whole ulcer thing … uh, get better, OK?

Seriously, prayers AND good thoughts coming virtually at you.

My best wishes to you and your duodenum. Get well soon!

Maybe while you’re there you can talk to your doctor about an internet rehab program?

Seriously, prayers and good thoughts going out from here, too. Take care of yourself, let them take care of you, and get some rest.

snerk*

I have to agree…I’ve heard of LadyDopers posting as they’re on their way to the hosptial to deliver a baby, but you’ve set a new standard, my friend.

I hated ICU. It’s so much harder to sneak out for a smoke.

Scary indeed! I’m glad it got caught in time. My husband has a history of duodenal ulcers; his last one he nearly drove himself to the hospital because I was taking a nap and he didn’t want to wake me up. He needed 3 or 4 pints of blood when he got there, too. :smack: And his only symptom was blood in his stool (although they ended up pumping a bunch out of his stomach, too); fortunately, he knew the symptoms so had a pretty good idea what was going on.

But we now know, and tell all family members: If you ever find him lying on the floor passed out, be sure to tell the EMTs about his history of duodenal ulcers right away. Sounds like something you’ll need to do, too – AFTER you get better and go home!

My gosh! Get well soon!
