I’m sorry. What a wonderful written tribute to him, though. Beautiful.
Yes, when the elderly are still spry in their eighties and nineties, you tend to think they’ll go on that way for years more yet. That makes it harder when it happens so quick.
I’m so sorry for your loss.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing a dad is especially painful. I’ve been there -

My most sincere condolences to you and your family. You have written a beautiful tribute.
My condolences, aceplace57.
I’m taking my family out to dinner tomorrow, for my mother’s 70th birthday. She’s in good health, but Dad isn’t. I’ll make sure to make it memorable, and let them know how much I love them.

You and all who loved him are in my thoughts and prayers. Wishing you all peace and strength as you deal with this.
I’m sorry for your loss.
I am so sorry for your loss.
I wanted to thank everyone for their support and kind replies.
Writing my OP helped me get through the first painful day. That’s a big step. I’ll take it day by day for awhile. Deal with the memorial service and support my mom as much as possible. My life will slowly return to normal after enough time passes.
Thanks again
Ace
Sorry for your loss…I lost my dad last December. He was 93…I am consoled that he lived a long, happy life.
Aceplace, nothing I can say that hasn’t been mentioned already. You had a wonderful Dad - just enjoy those times.
I too am sorry for your loss. Wishing comfort for you and your family.
I’m so sorry for your loss.
You really can’t run from this sort of pain and grief. Going through it is the only cure I know of. But it is a cure of sorts. The pain eases. The memories get sweeter. The length of time that passes between those feelings of needing to cry or even scream in my case, will get longer. This has been my experience anyway.
I know that this is of little consolation when you feel as you do now. But I promise it does get a little easier with time. Allow yourself the luxury of mourning.
I am sorry to hear of your loss. Sending supporting thoughts your way.
I am sorry for your loss.
Ace,
I am very sorry for your loss. Your father and mine sound similar and we had similar relationships. I lost my dad a little over 4 years ago. I always respected my father and his work ethic. I see my dad in a lot of things which gives me pleasure - my son the most which is great.
Keep the good memories in your heart and use them when you need your dad.
Really sorry to hear this, aceplace. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I’m sorry—condolences to you and yours.
