For those folks who live in the southern states I don’t know how you do it. I woke up this morning, went down got the paper, and it was practically soggy…Does anyone actually like the humidity?
Damn I feel like I could take a big ol’slurp out of the air…And for those of us with athsma - forget about it, this is terrible weather.
Oh man…I can’t wait for autumn! The nice crisp air, changing trees…ahhhhhh!!
The gods can take this humid sh*t and shove it!
So does anyone really like the humidity? If so why?
I’m one of the psychos who loves humidity. And I live just outside of D.C., where we’ve had some of the most oppressively humid days I can remember in the past few weeks. I love what it does to my skin and hair. My plants love it. It feels good to go out in it after being cooped up in arctic air conditioning all day. I love it. Dry heat makes me gag and turns my hair to straw.
Not only do I love humidity, I need it to be comfortable. I’ve always lived in rather humid climes and coastal cities and after a lifetime of high humidity dry weather plays havok with my skin and nasal passages.
I lived in Regina, Canada, and basically had a 2 year nosebleed.
I like the humidity. I grew up in Gainesville, FL the second most humid city in the US (the first most humid is in Washington state which is a whole 'nother type of humidity). I also have this whacky theory that air conditioning weakens you so I didn’t use air when I lived there. When I first moved to Georgia (not really an arid state itself), my skin actually cracked because I was so used to excessive humidity.
Well, I do it with a scurrying motion from the air-conditioned house to the air-conditioned car to the air-conditioned workplace. Oh, and lawn maintenance and other outdoor activities are undertaken before 8a or after 7p, because it is simply too wretched outside to do it otherwise. In the worst part of the summer, it doesn’t go below 80 at night and into the high 90s in the day. At the same time, it is so humid that we get fog in the summer morning. Fog, at 85 degrees at 8 AM. I don’t know why anybody moves down here, because if you’re not accustomed to it it’s unliveable.
