I love it when...

I’m left alone and have to fend for myself for dinner. That happened tonight, so I went out and got a dry aged New York Strip that I grilled to a nice medium rare, sauteed some mushrooms, baked a nice potato and drank a good Cabernet. Plus I am watching whatever I want without having someone ask me “is there something better on?”

So, what are your “Life is Good” moments?

Not having one these days. Being told the stalking website & all, punishing & suing them. That would be a happy moment. Just violated in many things for now.

Other than that? I feel good when I successfully manage my diet program for the day. Would love to eat a chocolate cake with milk though. Not to mention a large pizza with black olives, mushroom, jalapeno all by myself.

Ummm… ok. Not quite what I expected.

Anyway… I put this in MPSIMS even though my post focused on food, I don’t want to limit it to that. It could also be when it is a sunny fall day and the leaves are changing and you have to put on a leather jacket so you can drive with the top down on your convertible. (yeah. it has been a good day)

I love it when I don’t have to set my alarm before bed. Nothing says “Life is Good” so much as being able to sleep until I wake up naturally. I am so looking forward to Oct 24…the next time I might get to do that.

I dream about that day, which should be tomorrow… except I’ve got two dogs who are very good time keepers and they insist on their breakfast at 7 am sharp.

I guess I should add, that “I love it when…” my labs wake me up at 7 am giving me kisses.

My dogs will give me until about 9 am, which is about the latest I would likely sleep on my own anyway.

I think you have a very liberal definition of “fending for myself”.

But I agree absolutely, on very rare occasions I may be left alone overnight or perhaps with a single child (mine, I hasten to add) and yeah, rules are out of the window. Late night movies, elaborate meals for one without pandering to anyone else’s tastes, dancing in my pants, Quadraphenia on at full volume, it’s all good.

No need to think up one of my own…this is pretty much the perfect “I love it when” moment for me.

I love the smell of brand-new tires. Anytime I have to go into a tire shop, I love it because I am surrounded by that great rubber smell. Hardware stores also have that smell sometimes, and of course car dealerships.

One of the best things about retirement. Every day I wake up naturally, with no jarring prompt (other than the cat telling me “Hey! It’s dawn!”).

Lately, when I try on a shirt I haven’t worn in ages and see the result of my weight loss program, it makes me feel like I’m doing something positive that may prolong my life.

The OP nails it. Only thing missing is a nice, tall homebrew and maybe some escargot.

Today is starting out good… the dogs let me sleep in until 8 for a change. I normally wake up on my own also, but it was nice to have a relaxing morning. Life s Good!

Stopping for a cup of coffee and a sluce of cake on a Saturday morning while shopping. Just sitting and peoplewatching.

Even more so, going into town in the afternoon of the last shopping day* before Christmas, having already bought and wrapped all my gifts. Having a couple of drinks to mellow my mood, then watching the last minute shoppers in escalating states of panic, with their lists of people (rather than ideas).

  • invariably Christmas eve nowadays, but I have been doing this since a time when shops did not open on Sunday.

New tire smell! Brings me right back to my childhood. Going to auto shops with my dad and helping him work on cars.
