Recently I discovered the joys of Woot.com: they offer one product for sale each day, at a discount, and the item stays on sale until they run out. A new product becomes available at midnight Central Time every day. They offer all sorts of stuff, mostly electronic or gadget in nature and always accompanied by a witty product description, but what prompts me to extoll their virtues this evening is that the new item just posted is a 61 inch DLP High Definition TV (for just $2,799.99 +$5 shipping) … and the picture of the TV shows a scene from Monty Python and The Holy Grail.
I love lamp!
Meep!
I want!
Do you really love the lamp, or are you just saying it because you saw it?
I love Woot! I have picked up many items from that site. What is a great selling point for me is that the shipping, no matter what the item, is always only $5.00.
That big screen TV being offered today? $5.00 shipping. I bought a vacuum cleaner - cheap!- with $5 shipping. Computer? $5 to ship.
I love lamp. . . I LOVE LAMP!
I came here hoping–almost praying–that you weren’t talking about woot.com. Shut up already! You want everyone should know about it?
Damn it!
I wants me a bag of crap (BoC), but I always miss out.
I also wants me that TV.
I’ve bought a few things from them. Some I keep and use, some I sell on eBay.
It’s a great place.
Yeah, I noticed that almost right away. Amazing! I haven’t ordered anything from them yet (I’ve only known about the site for a week or two), but that $5 shipping is pretty nifty.
Just out of curiosity, how long did it take for your stuff to arrive? Was it sent via USPS?
 :smack:
Haven’t seen one of those yet, but I got a chuckle out of the “mystery brand” 6-speaker set the other day … and might just have ordered one, if I’d stayed up later/woken up earlier.
From what I’ve read elsewhere, the last one (maybe all the mystery speakers?) was a set of Dell speakers which, in turn, are supposedly rebadged Altec Lansing speakers.
Woot’s always one of the last sites I look at before I go to bed, though I haven’t been rewarded for my diligence…yet.
(Mental note: Save up three grand for the next 62" TV that rolls around.)
Duely bookmarked and placed next to SlickDeals on the surfing list.
Isn’t that HDTV crippled because it only has 720p vertical resolution, not HDTV’s maximum possible 1024p? or am I misinformed?
Make that 1080p, and yes, it is (after doing some googling around).
I was under the impression that there’s only a small handful of 1080p sets (and at a heck of a premium), and an equally small number of devices that output to 1080p. So not bleeding edge, per se, but not crippled either, imho.
Personally, I’m not really a bleeding edge guy, so 720p or 1080i is fine with me. Especially 61" of it…
(Boo, and we have now moved on to some media player that’s not a huge-ass TV.)
Guess what DeHusband is giving me for my birthday? A great big honkin 61 inch TV. Which I have to clean out the den and rearrange the furniture to be able to use.
And how exactly is this a gift for me???
Yeah, but at least it’s some media player that no one else can buy yet.
The computer and the vacuum came UPS. I can’t recall how the other items were shipped. None took very long, around 4 or 5 days.
Ah yes, an excellent point. I like this excerpt from their FAQ page:
And in reply to DeVena’s doubtlessly rhetorical question: Biggest. Porn. Ever.
