Yeah, families are messy. My maternal grandmother was a volatile wack job who couldn’t keep her mouth shut; cost her the company of nearly half of her grandchildren for nearly a decade. My wife and her sister are having similar but milder problems with their mom right now – and the old battle axe lives less than a quarter-mile from us!
I don’t understand why people think that calling other people names in anger will get them to change their behavior. I just hope MouseSpouse has an inexhaustible supply of hugs and understanding.
Oh, one other thing – I need to know, for my personal safety, does your mother live anywhere within 150 miles of your house? Because if she does that means she lives, at best, only 300 miles from me, and if that’s true, I need to buy more ammo. 
Any chance **Mouse_Maven ** could get a conductor’s baton (or half a set of drum sticks) and practice waving firmly while saying “Aloha-Mommy”?
