Neither here nor there but, “ah, morphine, take me away!” Nurse just dosed me.
Actually I’m told morphine can cause headaches which is kind of the opposite of what I’m trying to do, sigh
They can give IV Tylenol. I’m telling you it works great.
If your liver can handle it.
I’ve never gotten headache from Morphine.
I had some reaction. Mostly stomach upset.
Yes I am on eliquis and I carry a bit of Bleed Stop or some similar product in my purse and suitcase when I travel.
Happy to hear the surgery was successful.
Hope all continues to work out well.
That’s scary! Rooting and praying for your complete and quick recovery!

So I talked to my neurosurgeon who tells me that I have a one in 10 chance for my brain bleed to happen again if I don’t take blood thinners. If I do take blood thinners the chances are much higher. But if I don’t take the blood thinners I could get a blood clot in my leg which will travel to my lungs and kill me.
So I left a message with my hematologist (blood doctor) who prescribed the Blood thinners when I got a blood clot in my leg and I’m trying to get those two to talk to each other and come to an accommodation so neither my brain nor my blood clots kill me. Big fun
Never mind
There’s a shot now. Instead of blood thinners. I saw about it somewhere. It’s once a year, I think.
Late to the party but I wanted to give a heartfelt “thinking of you” to @squeegee. I’m glad the surgery went well and wishing you an easy recovery and successful completion of rehab.
My dad is going through a similar challenge with blood thinners. He’s been on thinners for a few years since a small stroke, but this summer had a few events of passing out due to low blood pressure (his first time in urgent care, they tested him on three different blood pressure machines before they finally decided the machines weren’t malfunctioning; he really had ridiculously low BP).
So now it’s the balancing act of finding the right medication to reduce stroke risk while keeping BP at an acceptable level. I hope they can find the right balance for you. The good news is, this is a really common challenge, so I’m sure they know what they’re doing.
I’m late to the thread, but I’m glad you came through all right, and with a snazzy fashion accessory to boot! Good luck with the medication balance (they do tend to be good at that sort of thing) and with the rest of your hospital stay and the rehab.
In some cases, they can insert a screen in some appropriate place that “catches” a potential clot, keeping it from getting to your brain and killing you. No idea if that’s applicable in your case, but it may be worth asking about.
They already have. I have one in my chest that they inserted last week. My understanding is it cannot stay there for more than a couple weeks or clots can form Directly on the filter itself
You can ask the nurses for a shave, and they will do it.
Morphine can also cause increased intracranial pressure. Other meds usually work better for this on top of it.
Congrats for the successful surgery.
Lookin good. Glad it went okay.
How’re you doing now, @squeegee?
Oh, aces. The neurosurgeon examine the incision she made and found it to be infected. Now I’m in the hospital taking intravenous antibiotics for the next several days or more. They did a CT scan on my head about an hour and a half ago and depending on what it shows they may MRI my Head.
If it’s determined that I need long-term antibiotics I will have to move into A nursing home for sometime.
This weekend Someone from an infectious disease Doctors office will remove the plate that’s in my head that I didn’t know was in my head in case that’s an infection source
Oh no, that must be miserable. Here’s hoping the infection clears up quickly.
Oh man, that sucks. I’m rooting for you from afar.
