I Made a Sock Monkey

I took the user name to be misheard lyrics of Puff the Magic Dragon.
shrugs But I could be wrong. Still it’s a fun name.
And this is a sock monkey!

I, for one, welcome our new sock monkey overlords…

flees for her life

I just googled “sock monkey” and clicked one of the first links looking for a picture but man that’s a weird site.

I created carrot cake. It was scary, too, but in a good way.

“The time has come,” the walrus said
"To talk of many things.
"Of shoes and ships and sealing wax,
“Of cabbages and kings.”

Ah, well I was wrong but I knew it was familiar and “misheard” and still funny.

Very funny indeed!

Check out this Spock Sock Monkey

Very cute!!!

Oh, elfbabe- they have a Doctor monkey as well. <evil grin>

OMG! $42 for a sock monkey?! I’m in the wrong business. That’s what I get for choosing a non-sock monkey related career.

By the way, is there a link to the sock monkey underpants? I really want to see that.
On an unrelated note I finally have over 1000 posts! But I missed whichever one was my thousandth.

It would have been this one. Was it worth it?

I spent my 1000th on Marion Berry! Talk about a waste.

You know, after looking at pictures of sock monkeys on line (how sad is that) I realized that mine is NOT really ugly. That’s just how they look. In fact, he’s quite handsome.

And I think now that I should have just kept my user name to “CeilingWhacks.” It would have been more concise. But thanks for the happy words anyway.

Maybe I’ll go make my monkey some underpants now.

 NO! NO! Who would tell us funny stories?

Sock monkeys is evil! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeevillllllllllllllll!

Nurse sock monkeys are…
sorta cute.

A sock monkey nurse is one who can help you, and doesn’t.
Or one who can hurt you, and does!

I love sock monkeys. I don’t know if I can make one myself, as I’ve never been good at that stuff. Maybe I’ll buy one. But would it be as good as my very own homemade sock monkey? I have fond memories of the hideous stuffed dog I made in life skills class, which now enjoys a quiet retirement in my cousin’s bedroom.

I gave my daughter a sock monkey making kit for Christmas a few years ago.

She worked at it with my mom.

She named it Cuddles.

I am not a trekkie. But I love the Sock Spock.
In fact, there is a Sock Monkey Making Competition at my local library this month and I just bought my sock kit. I was thinking about making a Pamela Anderson/Baywatch Sock Monkey, (big hair, teeny bikini. boobs) but I don’t have enough socks for boobage.

I think I shall make Spock. Spock doesn’t have any tits.
Though I am open to other sock monkey interpretations. Like Stephen Hawking, but the wheelchair would be a pain to make.

Ooooh, Sock Monkey Underpants is incredibly honored that some people think his should be a band name. He sends his thanks. By the by, he doesn’t wear underpants, he’s nekkid. Anyway, I don’t know why some consider sock monkeys icky. But to each his own. The original Red Heel Sock factory is in Rockford, Illinois and sometime this year there will be a large sock monkey exhibit at the Rockford History Museum (don’t know if that is the exact name). My sister lives in Rockford and I’m about 50 miles away. She’s keeping me posted. The museum made a seven foot sock monkey named Nelson (maybe that’s the original name of the factory, or of the people who owned the factory) and Nelson has been touring the U.S. in preparation for the exhibit. I, of course, will see the exhibit. I have also made sock monkey figurines and magnets out of polymer clay. For those of you who get HGTV (Home and Garden station), Carol Duvall’s show regularly features sock monkeys.

I don’t think it’s worth it, I still haven’t received my several million dollars from lieu.

Of course I did not read all the replies, so I did not know that the band name suggestion of Sock Monkey Underpants was in response to elfbabe’s post. It just so happens that I named my sock monkey Underpants, and I refer to him Sock Monkey Underpants. I thought someone had ESP! It still would be a righteous name for a band though.

I love making sock monkeys. I didn’t know people thought they were creepy.

I made my daughter one three or four years ago and she still loves that thing.

Now I want to make another one.
