Well…it’s probably because of this
July 16 seems to be the magic day…
Now taking officially submitted name suggestions…we’re probably going the Irish/Celtic route…so fire away

Congrats, B-Dave;
One name I heard over there alot was “Orla”, which apparently was the name of some Celtic Queen. If i had had any girls I would used it as a middle name; it “flows” well with alot of other good first names,
I wish you and your wife much joy and happiness; kids are absolutely wonderful.
Congrats Beagle! I couldn’t figure out what the hell it was there for a while.
I like the name Kylee
SO the Beagle is having a Puppy! Congrats!
I think Snoopy is appropriate.
Congratulations, Dave!
Mega-good wishes, Dave.
But I really think the word you wanted was “nauseated”.
As to naming: I’m afraid Mrs. Spiritus is due in May, and we plan on taking all the best names. You can have our leftovers.
Congrats!!
For Irish names try here.
my faves, Connor and Saoirse {seershuh) it means freedom
Thanks everybody…if we have a girl (and Christ I KNOW we will since the wife, cat and beagle are all girls)…I would like to use Ann (moms name) for the middle name…I think that’s generic enough to work for many names…
BTW…any favorite web sites etc… that recent or propespective parents have been using (besides the main ones like babycenter)…? Probably gonna check out epinions when it gets time to buy stuff, but I’m always open to other ideas
Congratulations! There’s a name site that I love: http://www.babynamer.com. You can search by a number of different ways. I like Caitlin and Seana for girls, and Gavin and Seamus for boys. Please, PLEASE don’t give your child a really “weird” name – they’ll have to go through their whole life spelling it or telling people how to pronounce it. At least, don’t give them a long weird name. Y’know? I’ve known kids who hated their names, and it didn’t make their relationship with their parents any better, that’s for sure.
Congratulations beagledave! I would suggest taking off on an extended business trip right now, and coming back in 9 months right in time for the magical moment. You will save yourself a lot of grief (for those nine months).
Irish names, mmmm, let’s go for something unusual… is Patrick an Irish name?
congratulations!
for a good irish name book, look for “beyond shannon and sean.” lot’s of good things in there and help with spelling and pronunciation. bigseach is a rather amusing girl name.
Morag. Although it is kind of a name you have to grow into.
Congratulations beagledave!
We always play the “name that baby” game at family gatherings when one is on the way. Aodhan and Helmut are always my votes for the guy names (though I guess Helmut is German ain’t it?)
When I was looking for puppy names the poster formerly known as JohnLarrigan suggested “Get away from my feet you yappy little f*cker”. He’s Irish, so I’m guessing that’s an old family name???
Congrats, Dave and Mrs. Dave! You two will be great parents.
Hey, maybe the trip to the Dells we Teemsters helped you plan did the trick! (Not discounting your immediate participation, of course.) That sorta makes us all official aunts and uncles.
So, how about Dell or Delia? Don’t know if that’s particularly Irish, but Clancy is already taken.
Wonderful news, Dave!
Veb
Well just don’t ask my son to name the kid. You’ll get something like Bubbles Sweaty Guy.
Wow, there sure are some virile dopers here…heh.
Congrats on getting your wife pregnant. May I ask what the winning grovel was?
Awwwww, congrats!
Babies are SOOOOOOO CUUUUUUUUUUUTE!
And they’re SOOOOOOOOO messy! And SOOOOOOOO loud! And SOOOOOOOOOOO expensive! And SOOOOOOOOO lippy when they become toddlers! And they SOOOOOOOO make you want to hang them by their toenails when they’ve gotten into your yarn & wrapped it completely around the dog’s head because they thought the dog needed a hat because it’s cold outside!
Sorry. Had a bad toddler day today.
Congratulations. Keep us posted, OK?
Robin
Oh how wonderful! Enjoy and be patient with your wife. Babies are so much fun once you get the hang of it.
You will have to let me know when the time comes what hospital you go to so I can send flowers and something for the baby.
And Persephone, I thought I had it bad when mine decorated the cat with my narn (yarn). Dog you gotta use more for.
