I may actually go insane with anger

If you’d stop defending people who use it in public we wouldn’t know what you do in private.

People who use racial epithets are real racists. There’s no such thing as being a part-time racist or a weekend racist, or an occasional racist just when you’re feeling really really pissed off about black people.

Something I’ve found fascinating is that nowadays, those who harbor attitudes/beliefs that are resoundingly considered unacceptable or abhorrent have absorbed half of that message.

See, they do understand that being a racist (or misogynist, for the two biggest examples I’ve seen) is a bad thing… but they somehow still obstinately refuse to understand (or admit, anyway) that *their own fucking attitudes, vocabulary, beliefs and behavior most certainly DO fall into that negative ist definition.

It’s like the thought process is something like:

  • Everyone says racism is terrible.
  • That means being racist is terrible.
  • That means that if someone calls you a racist, they are saying you’re a terrible person.
  • Wait, that person just said I was racist!
  • HOW DARE YOU CALL ME A TERRIBLE PERSON!!!

Hey, if you don’t want people to think you’re a shitty person… maybe stop doing the things that make you a shitty person. So sorry your lil fee-fees got hurt. :frowning: But it’s past time to realize that, with the vile shit in your head and heart that spews out of your mouth, YOU are a million times more hurtful to others than they are to you by calling you a racist.

I’m not defending the OP on his dashboard cam or security cams. He sounds like a dangerous person if he feels threatened. I personally wouldn’t feel unsafe around him, because I know how to deal with such people, but I definitely think he’s a little overly self-protective.

His use of the phrase LAN mainly makes me laugh. Yes, he’s probably a bit of a racist, but probably less than average for a white cop in Atlanta.

You people just don’t understand how pervasive racism is in the Deep South, including/especially among LEO. I’m almost ready to commend the guy for not being more racist, given the environment he is from. It could be worse, and often is.

All I know is that you can’t blame the Hindu for slavery.

(I don’t think he’s caught on that there are Hindus in this thread.)

I’m not.

I grew up in southern Ohio in a family full of people who thought that “the blacks” were nice enough, but you certainly wouldn’t invite one of them into your house. Constant jokes about how when my grandfather went on vacation he would inevitably get lost in “the black part of town.” Occasional racial epithets. And so on, and so forth. That’s the environment I’m from.

Know how many times I’ve used a racial epithet directed at another person? Zero. Zero times. And I’m not looking for praise or applause here. This is the default behavior of a decent human being. “But I grew up that way” isn’t an excuse. “But they do it too” isn’t an excuse. “But someone else is even worse” isn’t an excuse.

Better than a dachshund under your car…

If you use racist terms to describe people you’re angry with, you’re a racist.
The End.

Or we do and we don’t think justifying it is the way to end it.

Ok great. Now the first bit that pissed me off was “cocksucking whore”.

It’s probable that she realized that she couldn’t avoid the dog and turned toward it to center the car over it to avoid getting it with a wheel. I have done exactly that before when a cat ran in front of me and stopped (the cat was okay, luckily). There is no excuse for leaving because she didn’t want to be identified though, unless you HAVE become well known in the neighborhood for over-reacting and losing your temper.

Holding one single person responsible for the cultural racism of tens of millions (or in the case of Hindus from India, hundreds of millions) is a bit unrealistic.

But none of you are particularly realistic or evidence-based people, though. The kind of stridency being directed at me is rarely found in realistic, evidence-based people.

Your first point is exactly what I thought, too. I’ve done this a couple of times, when a small animal runs out in front of me, and I realize I can’t miss it completely.

Your second point is just shit-slinging, though. Known in the neighborhood? The trashy hobag drove off because she realized she’d been caught, and trashy people, pretty much by definition, don’t take responsibility for their behavior, when they can avoid it.

Maybe it would be, if anyone had been doing anything like that.

But all I see here is people holding you responsible for the racism of one person, you. You still have failed to explain why this tale about the Hindu and the HBCU has any bearing on that whatsoever.

Yep, because I’m the one that conspired to commit an illegal act. I’m also the one that hands out doctorates based on race.

Do you not see the futility of convincing me that I’m the problem in that situation? Keep trying, eventually you’ll even disgust yourself, most likely.

This is the problem with zero-tolerance policies. They nearly always end up going too far.

I’m often aghast at the racism I see around me, even in my daughter’s friends, but what am I supposed to do? You can’t convince people of things by approaching them head on, like you morons are trying to do. You can present facts calmly, at a teachable moment, and then hope for the best. It’s more about giving people time to absorb information, and less about GETTING IN THEIR FACE AND YELLING ABOUT IT.

But those espousing zero-tolerance rarely have the foresight to consider the most efficient way to win people to their side, anyway. They’re too busy getting worked up, and getting worked up is rarely useful when you’re trying to accomplish something.

Which still neither explains nor justifies your racism.

I also think its adorable, in that racist sort of way, that although the OP radically changed his story, there are still a few who cling to his narrative as if it could be credible. Sure, sometimes you forget and leave things out of a story. However, you don’t alter every fundamental aspect of what your saying to paint yourself in a better light whenever you can tell which way the wind is blowing.

I think I know the type. The sort of people who constantly make excuses for their own actions and words, and stubbornly refuse to own up to what’s obvious to everyone around them. The kind you can size up in about five seconds, after which their lame rationalizations just come across as pathetic, like a fidgety kid explaining why his hand was in the cookie jar. Really sad wastes of space. Man, I hate those people.

Wow, you’re really convincing me.

Have any of you people ever seen that Chris Rock bit about “Black People vs. Niggers”?

It’s illuminating in a general sense, although it only applies indirectly here.

As far as racism goes, the problem isn’t race, the problem is lack of income, lack of wealth, lack of education, lack of literacy/reading, and lack of money management skills. When you take those things away from any group that lives in the modernized world, then you’re going to get some bad behavior.

I’ve actually had more problems with poor white trash than I’ve had with poor black people. White trash are some bitter, angry folks, quite often. They can’t point at racial oppression as the reason for their lack of success, so they end up being all the meaner because of it. I also have less patience with them, quite often, I’m not sure why.

I don’t think he’s lying. I’m still a little unclear on exactly what happened at the LAN’s house (dude, I love that term, the OP has my undying thanks for it), and I suspect he might have seemed unduly threatening when he was there. However, the rest of the narrative checks out pretty well.

You people are unduly piling on this guy. Unduly piling on ME for saying so isn’t going to change that fact, but feel free to try to change reality with your group delusion. Maybe if you yust wish really hard it will become true!!!
