I may actually go insane with anger

Just because it’s a pile-on doesn’t mean the person is not also in the wrong.

Well, I have an almost-pathological fear of planned, organized, ritualized group behavior, so maybe I’m biased, but I may have to disagree.

Look, either someone can be talked out of their stance on a subject, or they CAN’T. A multi-page pile-on is more than what’s required to determine if they can be talked out of it. At this point you’re engaging in ritual shaming and humiliation.

I don’t believe that you believe that anything in this thread is “planned, organized, ritualized.”

Yeah, I have. I’ve also seen other comedians ragging on the racist idiots who adore that one bit of Chris Rock’s humor–I think even Rock himself has rolled his eyes in chagrin at it a time or two. No, his deliberately rough and provocative bit does not give you permission to say “nigger,” nor does it mean you can say it without being a racist. You seriously need to check your behavior; it’d be hilarious if it weren’t such a pathetic cliche.

Bricker once quoted a Russian (?) proverb around here: “When ten people say you’re drunk, go lie down.” Think about it.

But there’s a big difference between “Black” (an adjective) and “a (I would include the, as well) Black” (a noun).

If racism were bestiality, you’d be sneaking into the barn to lick udders. You’re not as bad as the guy rogering Flossie, but I’d still chase you off my farm, pervert.

???

I could link to quite a few posts of mine on OTHER message boards about how much I hate dogpiling, and my reasons for it, and my fear of ritualized group behavior. I think I’ve even deplored dogpiling here at least once or twice.

Do you really think I’m toying with you? I assure you, I’m being quite real. I use those words often when joking, but pretty much never in seriousness. I literally can only think of that one time in my life when I’ve used the N-word seriously. If I were really a racist, given my explosive temper, I assure you, it would have happened a lot more.

I just don’t even know how to respond. Are you drunk?

Changing me to be more PC is going to be a tough sell.

Being PC may get a bum rap, but it comes out of the idea of exercising some self control and giving a shit about how one talks about other people who historically no one gave a shit about. So, yeah sign me up for being more PC.

“and I’m not standing up for anything except keeping it factual. That’s the difference between you people and me. I’m interested in fact.”

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

You’re taking my statement out of context, which isn’t shocking, given the way I’m being treated in this thread. I was actually referring to racism and the use of the N-word. My general point was that everyone else was kneejerk reacting to the word, while I was being more fact-based about it.

Can this stop? I just want to be done. No one’s changing my mind, and I’m not changing anyone’s mind.

I think we’re all okay with you stopping. Everyone? Are we cool with al3839043 stopping?

Yeah, we’re cool with it.

This is sig-line-worthy.

About all you can do about dog-piling is say your piece and then leave it alone.

ETA: I’m cool with everyone stopping.

I guess it’s the thrill that keeps people dogpiling, when it comes right down to it.

Sort of like school pep rallies, everyone gets excited, worked up, and feels good for a few minutes.

Personally I don’t go in for that sort of thing, but I suppose we all have our vices.

You will not accuse me of intellectual dishonesty without a reply. I did not alter the context one iota. Your posts #304 and #312 (which I selectively quoted) speak for themselves, and had nothing to do with ‘racism and the n-word’, you were characterizing the driver in our little tale in your “factual” way. You used the word “ho” and such in variation several times, without knowing anything about the driver. You projected all kinds of stuff well beyond the “FACTS”. Cue the usual Inigo “I do not think that word means what you think it means”. Apologize, and then I’m done.

I’m as mad as I’ve ever been!

You’d have to be mad to read this whole bloody thread!

Y’know, it’s up to you whether you continue to be racist, but if the opposite of being racist is being PC, hey, sign me up. Miss Manners once said that “PC” is actually a pejorative for “polite” created by rude bigots who want to create a new right to be rude in public, a right they never had before.

Sorry, dude. You were publicly racist here, and you got called on it. Sure, you might be a really stubborn racist who won’t change his mind because your tiny brain considers that to be losing, but that doesn’t change whether you’re racist.

On the bright side, you’re kind of making ducati look good by comparison. Only kind of, but that’s something.

Just what exactly do you mean by you people? :dubious:
mmm
