To clear the air, I’m by no means Feistymongol, never read any of his posts or threads to my knowledge. I usually hang out at Cafe Society…I don’t think of myself as a white-basher or black-hater, racially sensitive yes but I wouldn’t think of myself as a racist.
I don’t think many people do know that Asians get a lot guff. Hispanic and African-Americans get probably the same amount.
If you think we don’t get much shit from people, I’d beg to differ. I see a lot of it, not the interval of once every decade. We probably see the racism culminate once every month.
Let’s not forget the valuable lesson that Madawc has administered.
After all, that 12-year-old kid is not going to be 12 forever. Someday, perhaps when he’s about Madawc’s age, perhaps an Asian child will call him “whitey” or “honky.” And the child Madawc assaulted will know exactly what to do, because Madawc has already shown him.
With any luck, the child he assaults will be Madawc’s child. Karma is a bitch like that.
But let’s take seriously Madawc’s contention that there was a hate crime committed, that racism was a factor. They were.
Because Madawc, you are the racist. You comitted the hate crime.
Why do I say that? Because you obviously have some built-up anger at whites. Perhaps a lot of it is even justified. But then you decided to take your anger at whites out on a 12-year-old child.

So you implying that I have pent up anger towards whites is TOTALLY unjustified. A fucking asshole, yes, a sick pathetic loser, maybe, but not a racist. I did not commit a hate crime, I blew a gasket over something trivial to some or many. I never said he was in fact a twelve year old child, that was what I assumed he was or could be. For all I know he could be a young looking twenty year old, but I highly doubt that…

While I can see the point some folks have that Madawc might have “crossed the line” by shoving the kid down, do we really want to take the position (suggested by some) that he should have simply ignored the matter all together? Because I have to admit, it makes me slightly uncomfortable – at least IMO, doing nothing about racism is giving tacit approval for it.
Or maybe the position we can agree on is that Madawc should have done something, and squabble over the deails of what that “something” could have been…?
Sometimes you should just let shit go. If those had been some angry looking biker dudes or some threatening black inner city thugs who had made the comment, he would have let it go. Although, he will probably post that he would have stood up to them. The fact is there are assholes in this world. Would it have been better if he had been called a fucker by these kids? Would it have irritated him as much if that were the case?
Chink was just an insult they chose. That is if the kid even said it, which I’m beginning to doubt. Madawc strikes me as a paranoid, constantly race concious, quick to find offense type of person.
Madawc, my advice to you is to chill the fuck out, stop seeing yourself as a persecuted minority and stop terrorizing children.
While, once again, I think his actions were above the line, I think that many people here seem to be giving 12-year-olds less credit than they deserve. They’re not the innocent stupid children some make them out to be. I would guess that the kid knew fully well what he was saying and why he was saying it. C’mon. If you grow up in an integrated neighborhood, you learn by about 8 that “nigger,” “chink,” “spic,” “dago,” and the sort are NOT things you say without provoking a strong reaction. Hitting the kid with the gate is too much, but scaring the shit out of him…I would go so far as to say that if it were my kid, I’d be glad you scared the living bejesus out of him. Maybe that makes me an asshole, but as I said before, better to learn it early and not get hurt than later and end up in a hospital.

Having never seen Feistymongol post all I can say is, perhaps Asians aren’t used to being the targets of racism to the extent blacks are?
I mean, take the Japanese. We’re generally well off folk who come here for a better life (actually, my mother was looking for a bigger country for her kids). Asians are generally middle class and get along with most races. We never had to fight for our rights (except maybe WW2 era issues) and we’re pretty quiet as a people.
Then you get ignorant fuckers (white or black, I’ve met a mixed share) who are racist fuck nuts. I, myself, generally don’t bother to respond and will just walk away (this has only happened once with some black punk). But at school I didn’t tolerate racism and I got into my share of kid-fights over it (grades 4-6).
Looking back I never had a big issue with racism since I was surrounded by a mix of races (hanging out mostly with blacks and whites) but if you got on my nerves with racist remarks I might go “ninja ultimate power” on your ass
