I might have to get rid of a cat...

I need help. I have a cat, he’s 1 and a 1/2 years old. The problem? He’s an indoor cat that marks his territory anytime we allow him out of the one tiny room he lives in because of this trait. I don’t want to get rid of him… so is there any way to teach him not to do this? I’ve tried the ‘put his food where he sprays’ technique, but he still does it.

Also, (we have four cats, two male, two female…) and the youngest male just got fixed… now the older female cat seems to be hissing and growling ever since. I don’t know if it’s in reaction to him being fixed or what’s wrong with her… she was always a nice purring cat.

Anyone know what to do with these different behavioural issues?

Is he neutered? Is he living in one tiny room because he sprays? If he’s neutered, how long ago was it done?

When you say he just got fixed, how long ago was that? Is it possible he still smells strange from the vet’s office and other cats that were in the office?

Try Feliway? It’s meant to help with both problems. Good luck.
