I nearly killed my kitten.

No word on Kitty yet. I’ll call them as soon as the office opens, though.

Our dryer is an old one, and the damn door won’t stay shut. I always check for cats, because I’ve accidently given our old Mommacat a five-second tumble before. But this little guy is so tiny that I missed him when I checked the clothes.
I’m going to start pinning the door shut with something, I guess…and maybe this will give me even more incentive to buy a new one.

I would consider just never doing laundry again, if I could get away with it.

Ah gotcha. That would make sense. Thanks.

Really hope Bounce pulls through. Poor little guy.

Hope the kitty comes through OK - and ya gotta post a picture when he returns home!

Antibiotics are usually given for a couple reasons. A severe shock or trauma even without open wounds can suppress the immune system leaving the animal vulnerable to an infection. Septicemia, an infection in the bloodstream, is a possibility secondary to such a trauma. Also, there is the possibility of burns which can easily get infected, the most common area burned in dryers is the ears.

Bodypoet - I hope my earlier post did not sound like I was chastizing you, I was just reminding everyone to check their dryers well.

Poor kitty! Hope he pulls through. Keep us updated. Oh, and another vote for Bounce.

bodypoet, I am so sorry about your kitten! :frowning:
Like everyone else, I’m pulling for the lil’ fuzz ball.

I wouldn’t be too hard on myself if I were you.
Cats are danged sneaky and he probably teleported himself in there after you started the clothes which would explain why you didn’t see him.

bodypoet, my three fur heads and i are praying hard for you and bounce.

i hope you hear good news at the vets today.

Another vote for Bounce as well!

Poor little tyke. I’m sure he will make it, if he can survive the dryer he can survive pretty much anything.

This is me right now -----> :frowning: (I’m teary and everything)

and I never do this. I blame it on the fact that I’m visiting home. And the allergies…::sniff::

Why did I have to read this thread?
Pleeeease be good news. Wishing all the best.

As for a name, I’ll vote for Bounce, but I had the idea of Irish (as in luck of the Irish)

Geddit?

Me too. :frowning:

Kittens are resilient; I’m sure he’ll be OK. Fingers crossed for you.

Bounce is a fantastic name for him!

Oh, poor little guy! I’ve never done that, but I can easily see how it could happen. crossing fingers for Bounce (Yet another vote for that name!)

Okay, Bounce may be the first official Doper Kitten.

The vet reports that he is a “bit better” today. I’m to call again this afternoon, but they sound optimistic, I think, in that they told me I could probably pick him up on Monday.

Wile E, not to worry. I’ve said many a time, if people want to insult me, they just about have to preface their remarks with an introductory phrase such as, “This is terribly insulting.” Otherwise, I’m just too slow on the uptake to get it the first time. I’m one of those people who, maybe two days later, stops in the middle of the grocery and says, “Wait a MINute. What the heck did Soandso mean by THAT?”

[hands noctrurnal_tick a tissue] Darn those allergies!

Thank you all so much. I know little Bounce is getting all these good, healing vibes somehow.

YAY!!

::happy kitty dance::

Oh I’m glad. Sounds promising. Noy “Yay!” yet, but maybe yay.

Yay!
I didn’t even realize I had been holding my breath until I breathed a sigh of relief!
You know this means pics galore are now due.

danceswithcats, I swear your post wasn’t there when I previewed!

Yay for the kitty!

::sniff:: thank you

I think the only thing that will cheer me up now is something chocolate-y and definitely some pictures of Bounce in the future.

Ooof. I’m glad things are looking up, though!

Well, we’re still in a holding pattern. When I checked back this afternoon, word was that Bounce is not doing as well as he had been in the morning.

That was about noon, and they haven’t called with bad news, so I’m hoping Monday will bring a good report. If he’s still with us Monday morning, I think we’re okay…
