I nearly killed my kitten.

Well… ya know… Kenmore, Maytag, it’s all the same.

Glad to hear the good news! I dried my big ol’ cat for under a minute (‘why’s the dryer making all that noise?’)- he just came out looking dazed but I still felt awful. :smack:

I can’t get into PayPal either right now, but they do have an upfront message saying that they are having technical problems. So, it’s not just you.

Give Bounce a great big kitty kiss and hug from Minx and me

Paypal is back up, and my donation has been sent. Best wishes to Bounce!

He’s home! He’s a little loopy still, and tends to walk in circles occasionally, but overall he sure looks better than he did the last time I saw him!
The other cats quickly made some mental calculations regarding the amount of attention, treats, etc that must now be divided amongst all of them PLUS ONE, and then sort of shrugged their cat-shoulders and welcomed him home.
His tummy is fatter than I’ve ever seen it, and he just tried to jump into the dishwasher. Heavens.
I’m supposed to keep him quiet, but the doc didn’t tell me how, exactly, I’m to accomplish that. I guess I’ll try putting him in a small, quiet room without any other animals, and see if he’ll sleep.

Paypal does seem to be back up now, and I want to thank you all again for your kind help. Such wonderful people, and cat-lovers to boot!

WOOHOO! I’m really glad to hear the little guy is going to be okay.

Give the little fuzzball a kiss from me. Poor little thing!

So glad he’s home and safe! (Although apparently he’s daring-going for the dishwasher? Oy!)

I had to laugh at reading little Bounce is walking in circles…after being tumble dried. I had an idea he was thinking, “Isn’t this the way I’m supposed to walk?” Oh my, what a odd sense of humor I have.

At any rate, Paypal is indeed back up. I’m glad to help.

You are going to have to Bounce-proof your whole house. The dishwasher?!? For heaven’s sake!

Enjoy your day and enjoy your babycat.

Aw, body, I’m so glad for you. I hate posting in pet-trauma threads, because besides getting all weepy, I’m terribly negligent in posting in people-trauma threads, and feel bad about this, but as an animal person, I so sympathize with you.

So how much did you spend at the vet’s? More than the price of a new dryer with a properly closing door? They’re really quite cheap at the Sears fire sales, you know.

My little kits have the run of the house, except the oven, dishwasher, dryer, and microwave. Keep them away from all possible sources of trouble. And do the Mouseketeer role-call before running any appliances.

I’m so glad it turned out all right. Sorry for the posters in this thread who have suffered human loss, and I didn’t post in your threads. I care about humans, really i do, but it’s these animal stories that somehow pull my heartstrings.

Okay money sent to the “Bounce fund”

 Glad the little guy is doing better. Perhaps you should get him a cardboard box since he likes climbing inside of things to nap? At least it would be safer!

Well, considering that the condition is my husband, no it hasn’t been cleared up. We’ve decided to keep him.
Okay, okay, so I named Buggy, but my husband named Poopy. We used to have a Pants in the middle (also named by my husband … get it … Poopy Pants?), but he died in June.
Buggy’s name is fitting in more than one way. When we got him, he had ear mites and gave them to everybody else (though I didn’t know it when I named him that). He’s also obsessed with bugs and whines and cries when he sees one he can’t reach. Some days I think I should have named him Drama Queen. He’s also a bed bug.

Oh, my. I’ve just finally gotten online (the electricity’s been off), and had a chance to check my emails and this thread and paypal.
I don’t know what to say. I think I may be repeating myself here, but I don’t know how to thank you all for your thoughts and good wishes and contributions. I just sat and cried as I read all those messages. (Although, oddly enough, I received several blank emails…I’m going to respond to those, just in case my email is acting up.)
I feel so blessed right now. Bounce is doing great–he slept on my lap for quite a while last night, and has re-aquainted himself with the other kittens. Right now they’re sleeping in a little grey fluffy pile.
I still haven’t been able to get my picture card reader to load (anyone really computer-savvy wanna walk me through this one?), but I will, and as soon as I do, I’ll post pictures of the wide-eyed little bugger.
My 14 year old is somewhat hopeful that Bounce will be sort of a half-wit cat, I think–I believe he enjoys the idea of having him remain just a little bit off-balance. Probably because he would fit in so well with the rest of the family, if he’s a little goofier than the other cats.

A thank you from me as well. All your support has been greatly appreciated, everybody.

When I came upstairs and saw Bounce skating around on the open dishwasher door, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Especially considering that the utility room, the scene of his last go-round with an appliance, wasn’t more than a foot away.

Punk know-it-all felines.

Bounce’s gotten more affectionate with me as well, while his fluffier sibling, which had been perching on my shoulder like some deranged furry parrot, has decided to go play with the 14-year-old.

Thanks for the love, Dopers. Bounce and bodypoet and I respond in kind…you’re nice people, you are.

Wow. You, my friends, have outdone yourselves.

Bounce’s hospital fund has accumulated enough to pay for at least half of his bill, which means–whoohoo!–that with a bit of creative juggling here and there, the bank won’t come repossess him, or whatever it is they do in such cases.

Things are so much brighter than they were only a few days ago. I haven’t gotten to all of my personal thank-yous yet, but I will–in the meantime, know that we’re thinking of everyone of you and reminding ourselves how lucky we are to know such good souls.

Bounce is eating like a small, fuzzy horse. Apparently he learned a thing or two about solid food while he was recuperating!

Still working on being able to post pictures, but soon, soon…

Thanks for the update on the Dopers Godchild.

heheh I am so glad he is doing well, and you are feeling better. Having had to put two cats to sleep this year due to old age and a total kidney failure, I know how crummy you can feel about having to put a beloved pet down.

Keep us updated and I really want to see pictures of the fuzzball! I showed you mine!!!

 :: hugs to all of you crazy kids ::

So glad to hear that my fuzzy buddy is doing so well! The back porch posse says purr.

Hugs to you bodypoet and Bounce.

So glad to hear Bounce has bounced back! Hope all continues to go well.

And thanks, Wile E and Momma Zappa for the input on the antibiotics question. Makes perfect sense. I had thought about the suppressed immunity system and the potential for lung issues, but for some reason, possible burns hadn’t even occured to me!

Yeah, when he came out of the dryer, his breathing was horrible. It hadn’t gotten nearly as hot as it does on a big-laundry day, but it was apparently hot enough to cause some lung trauma, because he sounded like he was breathing water. WHEN he was breathing, of course–it was very irregular and hitchy. And awful.

I want to double check with those of you who have donated funds to the Bounce Recovery Drive, too–I’ve received emails which would appear to be regular emails (titles like “Poor little Bounce!”, that type of thing), but the body of each one is blank. Are these the paypal-generated money-sent notification?
Just want to check, in case I’m ignoring anyone’s attempt at conversation!

Thanks again, folks…I can’t tell you how much easier you all have made my week, and how much nicer my bank is going to be about all this!

I’ve never done this before, but I uploaded, or downloaded, or something, some pictures on ophoto.com. This is the link I copied…now I gotta see if it works.
If it does work, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th photos are of Bounce. The first is of his older sister Steve, and the ball of fluff in the other photos is his littermate. (Had SHE gotten into the dryer, she would’ve been one big ball of fluff when she came out, I bet.)

Anyhoo, let’s see if this works:

(I don’t know how to do it prettily.)

On preview: Well, it worked for me. Is it working for anyone else?

They worked for me, and he’s adorable! I’m one of the people who’ve been quietly following this, and I’m glad he’s ok.
