I’ll try to post a pic later, but heres the deal. I’m kitten sitting for friend. this kitten is only about maybee two months old I think. She has been a pleasure to have in the house. She loves the cat toys and is a real sweetheart. Out of our 3 cats, she has, however, only managed to get along with Jet jaguar. (male, about 8 years old). Stache, the oldest (at about 13 yrs old) ignores her when possible. banshee, the fat cat, at about 12 or 13, hates her. (Banshee is always hostile to any other cat other than Jet Jaguar (who she only tolerates) and Stache. She’s jealous, I think. Banshee does not like to compete for attention.
Anyway, my wife is fond of the kitten, and my friend that left her with us told me that she adopted her because if she didn’t the kitten, which she named “Midge” would have been homeless. But she has a dog, and isn’t a real cat person, tough she loves animals. She’s away for 6 weeks and told me if we wanted her, we could have her. The wife says it depends on how the others react after a few week, but I think she’ll most likely be staying.
If she does, we have to change the name. We both hate the name “Midge”. the kitten has a dark copper with black speckles coat. She’s very friendly and loves to play.
Any ideas? I like to name my pets after fictional or historical figures, or well, crazy stuff. (I named Banshee because of her screeching at night. She would, as a kitten, wander around howling at night. 'Stache, the wife named because of her half of a stripe under her nose. Jet Jaguar, well, you have to have seen “Godzilla VS Megalon” for that )
We do the same: we have an “Anastasia” and a “Desdemona” (accent on the second syllable, as in Italian). My mother’s cat, jointly named by me and my sister, is “Thrasymachus”.
Well, my cats’ names were “Ziggy”, “Aladdin” (after the Bowie albums), and “General Patton”, which got shortened to “Pat”, which got interchanged with “Fiddy cent” after he got shot. Ziggy’s a really good name for a fat kitty.
Spend some time getting familiar with her personality. We recently got a new cat and named her Pixie after about a week. She’s happy, friendly, gets along with the rest of the critters and us, and she has a mischievous twinkle. Congratulations and good luck with your new family member.
George got his name because he reminded me of a cat I had as a child, also named George.
Boris is a large black cat with one eye that we adopted around Halloween, he’s named after Boris Karloff.
Spooky is a slinky black cat, shy but affectionate with the family. Spooky was my favorite word at the time, and sorta fits with his timidity. He hides when he hears people approach the door.
No, really. Short for Her Majesty and the historical figures part. It’s also Madonna’s nick so the crazy part’s covered too.
Cleocatra smacks my funny bone, Bookkeeper.
My grandfather once, while resting on a bench, saw a tiny kitten cowering in the middle of a busy street. He walked directly into traffic like he was invincible, grabbed her, took her home, and named her Neferkitty.
ohmygodohmygod, I had a cat named Scamper. She was The Best Cat Ever! She was a tortie and so smart and sweet you wouldn’t believe it. God, I miss her.
