I have a 10-ish year old non-smart Samsung TV that I’m looking to replace. It still works fine but I’m thinking I want to replace before someone starts slapping tariffs on everything. I also have a fairly new Roku device that I’m perfectly happy with.
There isn’t any such thing as a non-smart TV anymore, is there? I’ve been looking around and I think I want to stick with another Samsung but I’m seeing reviews about the quality and durability that make me question it. There’s lots of cheap TVs out there but I fear getting what I pay for.
I only need a 32" TV. It’s for a built in shelf that doesn’t have room for anything bigger. I don’t need it for gaming or anything like that.
What say you all? Is Samsung still a good brand or is there something else out there that’s better?
There are (non-smart TVs), and we had them mentioned in a recent thread (looking for it) but they’re geared for business and tend to be pricey. Probably more trouble than they’re worth.
You’ll find lots of options if you search for commercial displays or “digital signage” but the best TVs are all smart TVs because people like streaming stuff.
Samsung is still a reputable brand name, but they make so many different devices so I suggest you do a quick search on the quality and reliability of their TVs.
Also, I recommend smart. I was a late adopter of smart TVs but have recently become convinced that getting content through the web opens up many options and features. So yeah, go smart!
I needed a large TV for my new house and decided to go with Samsung again. So far I am happy with my decision, but I’ve found that for the most part you get what you pay for, and Samsung has a wide price range for any particular screen size.
Check them out closely and be willing to pay a little more for quality and durability. They may all look the same at the store, but once you get it home, you want the best you can afford.
I wanted the smart TV features so that wasn’t an issue for me. I particularly like the fact that it is Alexa enabled.
Whatever you get, simply connect the Roku to the internet, but not the TV.
My TVs are all smart but none of them are connected to the internet. My Roku (Stick, Express and Ultimate) are all connected and they work better than what’s built into the TVs.
