I once watched this Horror movie that looked like it was from the late 60’s or early 70’s. It was about a pshyciatrist who gets invited to a mental institution by his other doctor friend about “an interesting patient”. When he gets there, his friends says something like “one of the people here is a phsycopathic killer and I want you to find out who it is”. then the guy interviews a few people there and they tell him stories about why they were in a mantal hospital and stuff. When the guy is done,he starts to contemplate who it is…and the he is killed/attacked by the real Phsycopath…the orderly.
I really cant find the name of this movie, does it a ring a bell to any of you?
Been a whole buncha years since I’ve seen this one, though.
After a couple more minutes thought:
Were the stories as told by the patients presented as little flashback vignettes? If so, that ain’t the flick. Bugger, but this sounds familiar…
It’s been several years since I’ve seen it, but that sounds exactly like Asylum.
It’s a collection of four horror stories, with the one you mentioned providing the frame. I remember a couple of the stories somewhat–one involved a guy (Patrick Magee) who put his soul into a tiny robot doll. Another was something to the effect of a guy cutting someone up into little pieces, the pieces are wrapped up in his basement, and they come to life. My memory of both of those could be kind of off; I don’t remember the other two stories. But I think the frame story you mentioned is dead on.
Cabbage, that sound just like what I was looking For. I think one of the other stories was about this tailor who was paid alot of money to make a suit for this dead guy out of this special shiny material and he can only at night and stuff, I forget what happens at the end though.
The film is indeed Asylum, but the sinister toymaker of the last story was the great Herbert Lom. The unfortunate tailor was the incomparable Peter Cushing. The suit was a magic one which had the powr to revive corpses.
Shouldn’t the killer been one of the two doctors? That would have been better. I mean if the inviting doctor killed him or just locked him up and said ‘you’re the killer dude’ I think sounds like a better ending.
