I need help identifying this font...

…perhaps someone might know the name off the top of thier head. It’s not uncommon, and I’ve seen this font uses on many things from the 1940s-early 50s, such as print ads, a Ray Conniff album, magazine text, etc.

It looks a bit…off, to me, for italic Times New Roman. Anyone know? I like the classic look of this font…

Looks like Century Expanded Italic to me.

You might try the WhatTheFont website, which can automatically identify fonts from image files.
