When I was a little girl I had a book I particularly loved. Unfortunately, this book has since been lost and I am keen to try and find this title. My problem is that I can’t remember the author and I am not certain about the title. Searches on Google and Amazon have proved fruitless, so I am hoping that the SDMB community might be able to help me out.
The book tells the story of how people have dreams, and is based around a character called ‘Little Dream’. She is a little blond girl who wears a pink dress. The reader is introduced to all the different types of dreams - a muscled hero and a war hero are two I particularly remember. The ‘Little Dream’ character is too little/young to actually descend from the ‘cloudland’ to become an actual dream, and as such she does various tasks for the other dreams (polishing medals for the war hero etc) but she is never really appreciated by the ‘big’ dreams. She is also the only dream who can control the ‘nightmares’ - a herd of wild black horses that descend upon unsuspecting dreamers.
This goes on until one day she is actually dreamed by a person - and she becomes the most famous dream of all because she ‘comes true’. It is only then that the big dreams appreciate how special Little Dream was.
I thought the title was ‘Little Dream’, however I can’t seem to find reference to this anywhere. It is a children’s picture book that may have been translated to English from a European language (I vaguely recall a French or maybe Scandanavian type name for the authors).
I would love to get my hands on another copy of this book, so all and any help on this is appreciated.
