I need names of Japanese Pregnancy Tests

… For a end of term project.

Thanks.

Or, if the mods want to penalize me ala Jeopardy! :

What (OTC) pregnancy tests are there in Japan?

Are you looking for brands?

If you can read Japanese, here’s a listing from an on-line store:
http://www.kenko.com/product/seibun/sei_754017.html

They have:
Clear Blue, made by Omron
P check S, by Mizuho Medy
dotest, by Rohto Pharmaceutical
Check One, by Arax

Im sure Google or Babelfish well help from here.

Thanks.

Okay, I’ll bite. What the heck is your project?

Its international marketing. we have to launch a Pregnancy test unit in a foregin country. My group picked Japan.
To launch successfully, we have to do preliminary market research. Hence, I need to know the competition. We have already done culture and history etc etc

Are you going to call it “Ono Itblue”?

In line with the current Japanese birthrate, I think you could safely call it “No baby no baby no baby!”

Or, locally, 赤ん坊ありません[sup]3[/sup]. Somehow, I don’t think it has the same ring.

Let me know if you need a focus group. A number of the Wife’s friends are trying for kids and regularly buy these.

Oh, Japanese uses aru for unborn babies instead of iru? Didn’t know thatね。

No, but you can use “aru” to refer to family relationships. “kodomo ha arimasen” and “kodomo ha imasen” are both valid constructions.

As someone in your target demographic, I would suggest (tongue in cheek) “mada da yo”. You could also have a test that displays the words “zannen!” and “atari!” instead of the blue dot.

Hey, where’s Sublight? Product naming is his specialty!

But you need two versions. This one for people who want to be pregnant, and then seefu! and komatta! for the other group.
