I need one good science fiction reader.

I have a story. It’s about 300 words. This scifi writing thing is a relatively recent undertaking, although I’ve always written stuff.

If you read it, I need to know:

  1. Does it end too abruptly?

  2. Is the science credible/ accurate?

  3. What do you think of Sam’s speech? and

  4. Do you know what a finger cot is?
    Any takers?

I’ll give it a look, but be warned: I can be brutal.

You can e-mail or PM me through the Board.

Likewise.

Okay. Email sent. Wow, that sure was quick.

vison, I PM’d you with the story. It lost the formatting; let me know if you need it re-sent.

It hasn’t arrived. Try again. If it doesn’t come through, I’ll PM you my email address.

It’s 300 words. If it doesn’t end abruptly you earn the Nobel Prize for Literature.

If it’s just 300 words, why can’t you just post it? You’ll get more feedback that way.

Or are you worried about someone stealing your ideas?

Quack! 3000 words! And hi, Exapno Mapcase, good to see you!
Lakai, see above; plus, I don’t like to foist amateur fiction on the casual passerby. (you know, like, “I won’t hurt you… unless you ask me to.”)

That’s the funniest post I’ve read all evening!

Now I can shut off this computer and go to work.

I’d like to read it. I’ll do my best at giving a critique based on your standards. My email is in my profile.

Cool. In that case I’d like to read it. PM me, don’t email.

Unfortunately, it exceeds the character limit for PMs. By quite a lot.

I would just post it somewhere, but this particular story I kinda would like to try to publish — that is, after taking a few good readers’ reactions to heart, and the resultant adjustments slash edits slash manuscript burning.

Lakai, vison: duly emailed.

Okay, I think that’s enough intrepid souls. Thanks, Dopers!
