I need some uplifting phrases, please!

Part 1

Okay, so many of you know that my husband died at the end of last year (and if that’s now the millionth time I’ve typed that on these boards, I sincerely apologize), and in the end, he spent almost two weeks in hospice.

He loved it there and the place was amazing. Beautifully done with calming gardens, the staff were like angels sent to help us through the most difficult time we’d ever faced. I was so blessed that he got to be there and our last moments together were peaceful and solely focused on love, rather than scary and more stressful and alone. It honestly was a godsend.

Part 2

When we lost our house near Frisco due to dealing with his illness, we moved back to east Texas so that it was closer to family that could help me take care of him and more affordable. However, my mental health was at an all-time breaking point due to the strain. As such, I finally found something I could do out of the house to help us both but wouldn’t keep me from him long.

That was volunteering at a resale whose proceeds going to the local food bank. And while there, is get to collect the one thing I love that’s super cheap, like a .10¢ a piece… pillow cases. I’ve ended up with so many I could probably outfit every pillow on every bed in a nearby metropolitan area.

Part 3

I’m beginning to downsize further for financial reasons and because it makes me more stable while dealing with my mental illness and newly joint the workforce again. Because of that, and Jaceson’s experience at hospice (as well as just generally liking to do stuff for others), I’m starting a pillow case charity. I know that may sound crazy (ha!), but bear with me.

While there, people that are dying love having personal touches to help them through the process. Unfortunately, I don’t have the talent or time to be some of the fancier things I’ve seen, like making quilts or crocheting afghans. So, this is where the next step comes in…

Part 4

I’d like to take the best of my over abundance of pillow cases and have them embroidered and patients can have them if they like. I use a specific company to make me promotional items for my fledgling business, and they’ve agreed to give me a ridiculously low price to help me. In exchange, I’ll have tags that say we partner up. I’m so psyched I can’t stand it.

That’s where you come in. I’ve already got a few standbys, but I’d like some more. Thus far:

You are loved

You are special

May peace be yours
You get the idea, but the more the better. Also, as a side note, I’m gonna hafta call my charity something, so any ideas on that too would be hugely appreciated. And then when I get my first batch of ten done, I’ll make a Facebook page for it and others can check it out if they’d like. I think it’s going to be awesome.

Anyway, thanks for reading this far and I’m grateful for any feedback. I have no doubt much will be forthcoming, because Dopers are just good that way. <3

Illegitimis non carborundum.

Let me start with this: I love charity - especially local ones that directly connect with people. I love the idea. I hope it works outs! Please keep me posted on progress.

Random phrases that may appeal to some people, some of which may not be quite what you were looking for:
Today is a good day
Happiness
Smell the Roses
You Rock!
Friendship

If these are not quite the right sentiment, I apologize and please forget I was here:

From Father Mulcahy (MAS*H):

“Now I lay me down to sleep,
A bag of peanuts at my feet.
If I should die before I wake,
Give them to my brother, Jake.”
“…safe and restful sleep…sleep…sleep.”

I love all these, guys! I can make them work. Thank you. And D/a, you know I will. Keep more coming if you think of any more.

Dear self, Today You Will Shine!

Enjoy every sandwich.

Today, I will be happier than a bird with a french fry.

Let your past make you BETTER, not Bitter.

Today is never too late to be brand new.

okay this next one would have to be for just the right person:

Today, I didn’t even have to use my AK, I have to say it was a good day. * (Ice Cube)*

I love this.^

Don’t put off 'til tomorrow what you can put off 'til the day after tomorrow

This will really suck, faithfool:

Call your new venture, “A Case for Pillows.”

I’m goin, ya don’t hafta shove.

I like it, burpo, as well as all the humor. I know Jaceson would’ve appreciated that, so surely there are others who will too.

“Be Peace.” (“Ye make me spill my ale…”)

“Speak the Truth and Shame the Devil.”

“Nothing is So Good as Lasts Eternally.”

“The World is a Better Place Today than Yesterday.”

“I Am On Your Side.”

“See No Evil. Hear No Evil. Speak No Evil.”

“Golly, Golly, Oh My Gosh!”

“Reach For The Stars.”

Perfect! Gracias.

Thank you for being you.

Knock, knock…

The sun always shines somewhere.

Any of the verses from Sound of Music “My favorite things”.

And not embroiderable, but thanks for reminding me that I meant to call that local charity which makes pillows for local hospital patients.

Aw, you are so sweet, Nava. Thank you. And I really like “the sun always shines somewhere.” It has such a bucolic quality to it.

Bloom where you are planted

You are loved

Sparkle On!

Rockstar

Healing

Two of those have real meaning to me, CM. “Bloom where you are planted” is a thing one of my best friends says all the time. And I used to tell Jaceson he was a rockstar. Thank you!
