I’m making a dvd of comprised of plastic bag and plastic film pollution photographs and would love to have a soundtrack. The dvd won’t last more than 4 minutes and will be used as a booth display.
And for the life of me, I cannot think of a song that would fit. If it is of any help, the last picture is on a plastic bag caught in some weeds and the logo is a smiley face with the words ‘Have a nice day’.
There are so many different ways to go with this. You could use something with a lyrical connection to pollution or trash, you could use an instrumental with a pastoral feeling* as an ironic juxtaposition, or you could go with a pun.
Is Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag too obvious?
What’s that old Warner Bros. cartoon beautiful morning music? Deeee dee-dee dee-DEE dee-dee-dee deeee dee-dee dee-DEE…
Plastic pollution to give you an idea of what it will look like. Please view it as a slide show as that is how it will be made into a dvd. I am still compiling more pictures and Flickr, bless it’s web based heart, messed up the order of the pics, so my happy face bag is in the middle, not at the end as it should be.
Not music, but relevant (?), perhaps as an intro: Actor Walter Brook and Dustin Hoffman’s conversation at Benjamin Braddock’s graduation party in The Graduate:
Mr. McGuire: I want to say one word to you. Just one word.
Benjamin: Yes, sir.
Mr. McGuire: Are you listening?
Benjamin: Yes, I am.
Mr. McGuire: Plastics.
Benjamin: Just how do you mean that, sir?
“Trash” by Suede: it’s a gorgeous lush tune, nicely apt lyrics, and clocks in at 4 minutes and 4 seconds. Or possibly “Took Out The Trash {And Never Came Back}” by Mojo Nixon.
Ben Harper “Excuse Me Mr” from the M.O.M (Music for Our Mother Ocean) 2 Compilation.
Oh - excuse me Mr.
Do you have the time,
Or are you so important that it stands still for you?
Excuse me Mr.
Want you lend me your ear,
Or are you not only blind but do you not hear?
Excuse me Mr. but isn’t that your oil in the sea,
And the pollution in the air Mr.,
Whose could that be?
