I need to find an electronic part and I don't know where to start.

I’ve got an old drum machine that is missing some slide knobs. They are about 1 cm tall, 1cm wide and perhaps 1/4cm thick. The part fits on a slide pot much like what you’d see on a small mixing board. There is a picture of one style knob the company used here -the yellow, white and red things. My machine is the same but a slightly different model.

I’ve tried to google parts companies but most the websites I have found don’t include pictures so I’m not quite sure if they’ll fit. The machine these are for is from 1979 and somewhat rare, so the chance of getting the real part is next to zero.

Anyone out there have a favourite electronic parts company they use?

These guys have surplus parts:

      • The local electronics-supplies store I go to has a whole aisle of bins of various knobs, sliders, etc. …And that’s just the actual part of a control that you grab; the functioning electronic parts they fit on are somewhere else. This is the kind of store that sells supplies for making electronics–resistors, capacitors, circuit boards, and most everything else. They deal in lots of manufacturer’s overstocks/surplus however, so you have to take the thing in and match it, you won’t be able to just order one. And if you find anything that fits, it may not match the others–but if that bothers you, then you might be able to replace them all I guess.
