I no longer need a cassette player! The Cure: Join the Dots

Hurray!

For years I have been disappointed that the Cure’s Standing on a Beach Compilation has never been available on CD! The CD version (Staring at the Sea) is pretty much your basic “greatest hits” collection- of very little use to serious fans who have each of the individual albums that the “hits” came from, though pretty good as an introduction to the band or for more casual fans. (Of course, the “die-hard” fans already had all the singles as singles.)

The CASSETTE version, however, (titled Standing on a Beach) had the “hits” included on the CD (yes the CD had a few Bonus Tracks) but it also had a great collection of B-sides, making it infinitely more valuable than the CD version.

Standing on a Beach has, for a long time now, been my only reason for having a Cassette Player.

But now- hey look!

Join the Dots
a collection of B-sides and rarities!!!

The 4 disc set includes all the B-sides from Standing on a Beach PLUS B-sides and other assorted non-album tracks recorded in the 17 years since Standing on a Beach came out!!!

Did I just say that it’s been 17 years since Standing on a Beach came out? Ouch! I feel old.

That’s fantastic! I still listen to the CD–yesterday, in fact. Thanks for the heads up!

Was I really 16 years old 17 years ago?!

I got this set a couple of weeks ago, and I’m lovin’ it.

Now I can stop pestering my friend to transfer all of his Cure 12" singles to CD.

FYI: Rumor is each album is supposed to be remastered and rereleased sometime this year. Don’t know any more than that right now.

Anyone else planning to go to Coachella this year?

I went through a simular situation with From the Greenhouse by Crack the Sky. That album came out in the 80’s and was and still is on my top 5 list (the other 4 are probably Pink Floyd). It just recently came out on CD, thank God.

Fantastic! My copy of Standing on the Beach got eaten years ago. This makes me so happy.

I’ve also heard that Dear You by Jawbreaker is being reissued. Another tape that got eaten that I haven’t been able to replace. Hurrah!
