Please re-read that exchange. Note that my initial challenge was to your claim regarding masturbation and mortal sin and made no mention of homosexuality, at all. Note that I freely acknowledged that your posted opinion was, indeed, taught by different teachers–particularly several decades ago when you studied–and I only pointed out that what they taught was not actually doctrine. (At which point homosexuality was not even part of the discussion.)
Following that exchange, you called me naive, defended yourself against names I had never called you, and went off on a tanget regarding abuse by a priest and your disagreements with RCC doctrine. At no time did I challenge that you had been taught specific ideas. At no time did I defend the actions of the abusive priest. At no time did I make any observation about the RCC’s teachings regarding homosexuality.
You made a couple erroneous statements regarding RCC doctrine about mortal sin in connection with masturbation and death without confession. I corrected those points (placing the blame for your errors on your teachers). You then spent several more posts making impassioned condemnations regarding the RCC and attempting to insult me and drag me into your condemnations.
It is hardly weaseling for me to stick to the single topic I had addressed in my first post while you try to hijack the thread.
Threatening with banning for posting in the wrong forum? Luxury! We would have WISHED to be threatened with banning, we would have thought ourselves kings! Back in my day the mods would ban the lot of us before breakfast–if we had a breakfast–and we were thankful we didn’t get worse!

Once again, Tom, your arguments APPEAR rational and distinterested, but they inevitably are designed to indirectly and by implication bolster the viewpoint that the Catholic Church is not authoritarian and is somehow a wonderful haven for love and liberation. I realize that this is not what you have said in so many words, but in almost a year of exchanges with you, your opinions in this sense come though pretty clearly, if one reads between the lines.
In other words, Tom, you are every bit as opinionated as I am. But you have a gift (which I frankly envy) of making your arguments sound like sweet reason.
So why should I make your life any easier by not rejoining SDMB? (I know, I know Tom, as you so clearly expressed in another posting a few weeks ago, wiping up my errors of logic and argument is a minor irritation only, kind of like wiping up the wet footprints of someone who tracks snow into your house. “Can you say ‘haughty, condescending analogy’ boys and girls?”)
But for what it is worth, I will resubscribe, stick around and express the truth until you ban me. So what if I am out a few $$$. It is worth it.

As others have already said, you don’t get banned here for arguing with mods or for pitting mods. But if the worst you can say of tomndebb is that he sounds sweet and reasonable, and is so convincing in his arguments because of that – well, you might as well have put this in MPSIMS.

I don’t think it’s so much he makes it sound like sweet reason, it’s that you make it sound like your one of those people that wanders down the street talking to themselves wearing 8 coats in the summertime.
On my first cursory read of the forum’s thread titles, I thought this said “I still have some teeth left,” as though it were some sort of oblique reference to having been smacked around and thoroughly bloodied in some confrontation or other, but he’s not yet satisfied so he’s issuing an invitation to take a crack at the remaining incisors and bicuspids. And, naturally, the first thought that comes to mind when Valteron claims to have no teeth is to respond: “Blow me.”
But, of course, I realized almost immediately that I wouldn’t be able to share this bon mot, because I had misread the title. It doesn’t say “teeth.” It says “I have some time left.”
