What part of the word “illegal” are you having difficulty with? They are criminals, you idiots!! Would you give a credit card to someone convicted of dealing dope? Of theft? Or homocide? Would you give me a credit card if I walked in and told you I didn’t have a Social Security Number?
Fuckheads! I almost wish I had a BoA account just so I could close it in protest, and I hope a whole herd of your accountholders do that very thing.
I don’t know how I feel about giving credit cards to people without Social Security numbers but convictions for dealing dope, theft, homicide, rape aren’t part of the credit report so I am sure that all credit card companies give them to these people freely.
Well, Citbank and some other banks give them mortgages. Do you have a Citbank account? I think both practices are aiding and abetting criminals and should be made illegal immediately.
I believe the answer to all of your questions would be “Sure, fill out these forms.”
I don’t get my panties in a knot about illegal immigrants, but I didn’t get the warm fuzzy feeling I think Bank of America intended when I read articles about the policy today. I see sense in letting undocumented immigrants open bank accounts for all parties (bank gets money, undocumented immigrants get somewhere safer than their mattress to put their money) and I understand why the bank is pitching this as a way to improve lives. However, all I could picture was a Bank of America rep saying “Hey, we figured out a new population to sock with huge fees!”
BoA, like all other financial institutions, extends credit based only on the basis of the borrower’s perceived ability to repay the loan.
If you have an objection to that, it can be based only on:
Second-guessing the financial institution’s judgment. Which, if you are making that judgment in your capacity as a citizen, amounts to the thin end of the wedge of authoritarianism and/or totalitarianism.
Second-guessing the financial institution’s policy of extending credit on that basis. Which, if you are making that judgment in your capacity as citizen, amounts to the thin end of the wedge of socialism.
Either way, you are no true conservative. Nor a Scotsman either.
If, OTOH, you are making that judgment in your capacity as a BoA stockholder – that’s your problem!
::shrug:: I’ve been a BoA account holder for well over a decade at this point, even have a low-interest loan through them, and I think it’s a fantastic idea, if for no other reason than having access to a safe place to deposit money (the required checking account) as well as a non-cash payment option (credit card) may decrease the violent crime perpetrated on a population that typically carries or “stashes” large amounts of cash.
