There are plenty of dissenting views around this place, on all manner of subjects. Usually when posters start whining about the SDMB being an “echo chamber”, it’s a sign that they’re getting stomped by a gradually emerging consensus on facts.
There have been posters who’ve complained that these boards manifest excessive conformity about, for example, rejecting market fundamentalism, rejecting Islamophobia, rejecting 9/11 “truth” conspiracy theories, and acknowledging that anthropogenic climate change is a serious problem. Their complaints and accusations didn’t make them any less wrong.
Likewise, assuming that self-proclaimed “colorblindness” and “meritocracy” are necessarily non-racist is also wrong. If you just contentedly accept the entrenched injustices produced by past racism while patting yourself on the back that you aren’t deliberately contributing any additional new racism, you’re not really being as non-racist as you think you are.
If you want to complain about something that you claim another poster said, why don’t you just directly quote and/or link to the post where they said it? This constant insistence on criticizing other posters for statements you allege they made but won’t or can’t substantiate with cites is getting tiresome.
Where? Just once, could you produce a link and/or post number for something that you’re claiming was said by somebody at some unspecified point in the past?
