I’m just speaking for myself here, but if I’m going to post a question to GQ, I’ll be persuaded more by some evidence or a good argument than someone talking about how bad a person’s reputation is, regardless of whether it’s earned or not.
I’m not stating this as a “shame on you” thing (that’s the mods’ jobs, not mine), but just from the perspective of what is a more effective way to make your case.

So you think posting the hijack in GQ was OK? What you’re ignoring is that Skywatcher’s post was in GQ. His post here in the Pit was OK. I didn’t do anything like that in GQ.
DrDeth was being his usual ass in the airplane thread. Skywatcher was being a temporary asshole by bringing up the ocelot.
I love asshole Skywatcher in this thread. In that particular GQ post, not as much.

But also bittersweet, because it’s not feasible… unless we add a codicil: “All determinations of intelligence will be the result of a vote by whichever mods are feeling pissy this week”.

I think he violated the rules, yes, and deserved moderation. I don’t think he deserved to be castigated for it here, though. I’m commenting entirely on what you’ve said as a poster, not what you’ve done as a mod. You moderate rather well.

If skywatcher had only made the comment here, then that’d be fine. (I was slightly confused by Colibri’s castigation at first, as I didn’t know the context yet that he had brought it up in an unrelated GQ thread.) If he had made the comment that he did in GQ, was moderated, and apologized, then that’s all it would be.
He did something that was worth modding, then bragged about it here, that’s the reason that his comments were criticized.
Now, can we get back to talking about what a fuckin jackass DrDeth is, please?
