I pit.... DrFidelius!

The problem is that they grow back, so you end up with just as many as you started with.

This is the correct way to diet. Halve everything the first three weeks. Then halve that for the next three weeks. Then halve that for the next three weeks and so on until you are not eating anything. Then you’ll be on the healthiest diet there is Inedia or Breatharianism.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I had a bit of an epiphany a few months ago when I saw JohnClay and John Mace post in the same thread, and I realised that they were different posters. I had assumed before that there was an otherwise reasonable and nice guy with occasional moronic outbursts but no, there’s a reasonable guy and an obsessive moron.

That’s not a pony, that’s a unicorn, dumbass. Unless they have unicorn ponies, which would be pretty awesome.

Ah, the famous Diet of Worms.

You want him to lose weight by persecuting Lutherans?

You Won’t Believe This One Simple Trick To Lose Belly Fat! Doctors Hate This Local Monk!

Well, if the Lutherans do as Luther did, he’d at least get some exercise chasing them.

How about this one?

Fool! You’ll never get to the point of eating nothing. It’s called Zeno’s Diet.

Oh, you will be eating nothing, eventually.

Zeno was the first homeopath.

Wait a minute. It seems you AGREE with Dr. Fidelius.

Doesn’t matter. Dr. Fidelius said you’d lose weight. You agree.

So what? He made a three-week recommendation. You agree with it.

Maybe he also should have told you how to build a spaceship. He didn’t. He told you to cut your caloric intake in half for three weeks and you’d lose weight. You agree.

If you want a long-term diet plan, consult a dietician or bariatric specialist.

Let me get this straight … you’ve tried jogging and sprinting and you were unsuccessful? Man that is really really sad, I’d say your first problem is a life of sittin’ on your dead ass. So yeah, cut your food intake in half at least, including vegetables … them are part of a healthy diet … you’re not looking for healthy, you’re looking for easy … anything so you don’t have to get up off your lazy ass and do anything.

Since it’s clear being healthy is not any concern to you, try regular fasting, say three days a week eat no food at all, just drink water … give it a couple five years … just until you get that single digit BMI and fit in that size 2 dress. You’ll feel sick and listless all the time, but that weight will come off and that’s all you care about.

You want healthy, throw away your scale, eat nothing but vegetables, beans and rice forever … and run run run run until it burns, then get up and run some more … get a job buckin’ hay or framing houses. You’ll feel great and be full of energy all the time you won’t care how much you weigh when all the gals complain how you make size 14 looks so damn hot.

What a lazy shit …

I used a modified SlimFast diet. Shake for breakfast, shake for lunch, occasional low-carb snacks, and a healthful dinner. Didn’t modify my calorie burning one iota.

Unicorns poop ice cream . . . and I have a cite!

CMC fnord!

I was aware of your cite, but I had no intention of being the one to post it.

And it was promoted by a pair o’ docs.

Eating too many vegetables can make someone fat, specially depending on which vegetables they are; a breakfast consisting of twelve pieces of fruit is very vegetarian but not particularly equilibrated. If they come in the company of sauces or potatoes, that sure doesn’t help stay trim.

If (can be a big if) someone already has an equilibrated, complete diet, but is evidently eating too much “eat the same things but cut everything in half and yes that includes vegetables” is perfectly healthy advice and the easiest way to “count calories”.

Now that the reasonable bit is out of the way: JohnClay, I’m as used to repeat threads as any other Doper of long standing, but Jesus on a flying rainbow SEAL, lower the frequency!

It seems to be a recurring theme is that people think I am too obsessive about posting. I’ll address that…

Well today I didn’t reply at all during my entire working day. I managed to do it without help from a doctor but it was hard at first. I had trouble learning stuff about OAuth. But as the day wore on I got back to normal.

As far as my diet goes I haven’t even fully read the ebook (the FAQ section in particular). Every now and then I watch some of the associated videos. I haven’t bothered to research scientific papers about diets. Though I did do that in the past. When I studied a psychology subject at university I wrote an essay on weight gain and sugar sweetened beverages. I found that there were papers on both sides - some said that consuming “SSBs” didn’t result in weight gain. Perhaps they got some indirect funding from sugar companies (I heard something like that in a documentary).

BTW I know a guy who has OCD. He goes through huge amounts of toilet paper even when it causes his bottom to go raw. He insists that I check that the windows on his car aren’t wound down by touching the glass multiple times on each window, etc, etc. A large number of people in my extended family have mental illnesses.

There was a time when I wasn’t really obsessive enough. I remember seeing a psychologist for my first diagnosis (clinical depression) and he said he wanted to put a bomb under me.

I’m not sure you thought through your opening sentence enough. DrFidelius was talking about halving vegetable intake. Fruits aren’t vegetables… I think… I’m not sure about tomatoes and avocados.

Apparently a major reason diets fail is due to hunger. I’ve heard that a good solution to that is to eat additional foods (and water) that have a low calorie density to make up for the foods you cut. I think people would have trouble sticking to a diet where everything is halved.

Well DrFidelius started his ridiculous advice in my caffeine/coffee and belly fat thread. Since it was a bit off topic I made a debate thread especially for that. Then since it “wasn’t really a debate thread” it got closed and I mentioned in ATMB. DrFidelius made the reply that I quoted here then that thread was closed. I made another ATMB thread asking why the non-debate thread was closed rather than moved then that thread got closed as well. Then I pitted him since it seemed I wouldn’t be able to discuss it with him anywhere.
