Enes Kanter is an attention starved prick who is making a mockery of women’s sports while claiming to be standing up for women. There has never been a trans woman in the WNBA. It is not an actual issue. He didn’t make it in the NBA and now he’s trying to stay relevant by being a shameless troll. He showed up to a game in Chicago to make a spectacle of himself. He got into a shouting match with a player on the court, almost went onto the court and was then kicked out by security.
He is now suing for a violation of his free speech rights. Suing a private entity for something that only pertains to the government.
Fuck you, you failure of a basketball player, and failure of a human being. I hope you are forced to pay the legal fees for the other side and you get laughed out of court. You claim to be standing up for women’s rights and trying to protect women’s sports, and to do so you are mocking the entire WNBA and tormenting its players? All for attention for yourself and to be a worthless troll? Go to hell you infected pustule. Find a hobby, do something useful with your life and leave these women alone.
But note that his lawsuit does name two local governmental bodies: the city of Chicago, and the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, which operates the arena where the incident occurred. Not that that should matter, IMO: it was not those entities which banned him.
The first sentence from the background section of her complaint against Chicago Women’s Basketball Operations, LLC, Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority and the City of Chicago says
Plaintiff Enes Kanter Freedom believes deeply and advocates forcefully that the integrity of women-only sports must be protected, and he has been explicit in many public appearances on this point.

That’s exactly right. She claims that she is entering the next WNBA as a trans woman, so she should be referring to herself that way I would think. Unless she is not being serious and is just trolling for attention like a huge unwiped asshole.
11 seasons, zero all star appearances. He put up about 11 pts and 8 rebounds a game. Unremarkable journeyman. You can still make a good amount of money being just ok in the NBA if you are tall.
He received votes for the league’s “Sixth Man Award” in four seasons, finishing as high as third place for that award in 2015-16. Definitely not a star, definitely not a full-time starter (though there were two seasons in which he started in most of his team’s games), but he had a reasonably good career, and was, apparently, at least somewhat respected and recognized for his performance at that time.
I mean yes, he was never a star and only rarely a starter. Pretty terrible perimeter defender to the point where he could be virtually unplayable against certain teams and that probably ended his career a bit early. But he did have compensating skills and 11 years in the NBA is success however how you measure it. The NBA is a brutal league, Kanter was objectively a successful bench-player which is no little thing.
I mean, this is the pit. If I want to insult his career, I think that’s fair game. However, I suppose it isn’t necessary when we can just insult him just for being a piece of shit who is tormenting women who are just trying to do their jobs and play basketball. I do think that his career being over without major accomplishment is one of the reasons he is making such a spectacle of himself by being a total attention seeking fuck face troll.

As discussed in this Game Room thread last month, a guy named Clay Travis, who is a conservative talk-radio host and has been involved in various sports media projects, announced that he wanted to found an all-transgender WNBA team, and already had two former NBA players who were now “identifying as female” who were interested; Kanter is one of those two.
It would not surprise me if Travis, or someone similar, is bankrolling Kanter, and handing his legal fees.
To me the most infuriating thing is these people saying that they are “standing up for women’s sports” when the actual women playing in the WNBA (well minus one) are telling these people to sit down and stfu. Also the fact that they have never once given one shit about the WNBA until they felt like they could score political points. The WNBA is having its most successful and popular moment now, and instead of celebrating that, they are making a mockery of the whole thing. Its such a shame.
To the point that the WNBA’s commissioner announced today that she is stepping down. She had played a big role in helping the league get to where it is now, but the anti-transgender and anti-women’s sports trolling is apparently something which many within the league feel she has not handled well.

I am a casual NBA and basketball fan going back to the 90s, though I don’t follow it nearly as closely as I used to. I still enjoy the game on an entertainment level and I’ll catch a Detroit Pistons game here and there. Kanter’s name rang a bell when it started popping up in the news but I couldn’t have told you who he played for or what his career was like. But he could be Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Wilt Chamberlain all rolled into one and it would be completely beside the point. Now he’s going to be remembered as nothing but a professional troll and publicity hound.
And the worst part about it is it makes absolutely no sense at all. Saying that you’re trying to 'protect the integrity ’ of women’s basketball, or whatever bullshit he’s trying to peddle, while protesting the WNBA at its peak of popularity is like saying you support the Black Lives Matter movement but then you align yourself with skinheads and white supremacists. It makes no sense to me.
