I pit everyone who didn't tell me what a fatass I was

Heh, you should see me now, clean-shaven for the first time in years for this damn interview. I usually try to go with a layer of stubble, which (I thought) hid the double chin(s), and I’ve gotten used to that in my personal identity, so now I look like 2 different people.

Yes, it’s a food-borne illness.

Ok, so here’s my gauge. These girls range from obese (girl on the end with the red hair) to morbidly-possibly-trending-into-super-obese. Camryn Manheim is overweight. America Ferrera is right about normal for her body type since she lost about 20 pounds or so, Lady Gaga is an example of a smaller body type who’s about the right weight for it. Lindsay Lohan is painfully thin and needs to eat a sandwich.

Is that about reasonable, you guys? This thread has made me wonder if our fat-glasses are really that off.

Yeah, naturally there is a “too skinny” and most of the people who fall into that category are skanky, coke-and-heroine ritled starlets. Not many guys are “too skinny,” but when they are, you can usually tell because they’re wearing women’s jeans or lead singers in hipster bands.

Cameron Manheim is obese, not overweight. And that’s not a value judgment, just a weight one. The one in the first photo that you say is obese is more like morbidly obese. Again, not a value judgment.

Everyone in that first photo is morbidly obese. Camryn is obese for sure. I’d argue all the rest are in the healthy range- Lohan at the low end of it, America somewhere toward the middle to low top.

We’re all so used to seeing fat people that we forget what healthy looks like. Again, not a value judgment- I’m fat and I think I’m a great human being, thanks. That said, seeing everyone around us being fat skews the perspective of just what is fat. I mean, the sheer fact that you ( **torie **) think ANY of the girls in that first picture are anything but morbidly obese shows how skewed perceptions can be. There is no way that girl on the right is smaller than a size 22. Hell, I’m less fat than her (comparing bodies) and I know I am “morbidly obese”.

I’d say your fat glases are in need of a checkup. Obese is where Cam is. America is overweight in the pic you linked to. LG and LL are thin, but not painfully so.

Well sheesh. Ya’ll are blowing my mind a bit.

To me, America looks just right and healthy in that photo and Lindsay looks terribly thin and sickly (her arms are so tiny!).

I don’t know if I’d call Camryn obese; she’s a very tall woman, and her fat is pretty much evenly distributed over her body. I think I’d put her in “overweight” (but carrying it very well, body-wise and attitude-wise). The four ladies in the bikinis are all very to drop-dead-of-a-heart-attack obese.

Here’sanother picture of Lindsay Lohan - she’s got that anorexic skeleton look going on.

I don’t know if this is America Ferrera before or after any weight loss, but she looks fine to me - she has the rounded curves of her body type, and I don’t see a great hanging gut or anything. She looks like she would eat a good dinner after spending an afternoon hiking around.

But “obese” and “overweight” aren’t defined by how well you carry your excess fat. She’s 5’10" and, from what I can see in Google’s search results (the link goes to a “lingerie/swimwear” site, according to our internet filter :(), she says she weighs “a hell of a lot more than 200 pounds”.

Again, it’s not saying she is a bad person to say that she’s obese. Many people are obese, fat-percentage-wise, than we think because of how many dang fat people there are nowadays.

I think we should draw another axis at right angles to ‘fat’, and label it ‘muscularity’. To me, Ms. Lohan appears unhealthy, not so much because she’s skinny, but because she seems to have little muscle mass. Her upper arms are a giveaway. But I’ve met plenty of slender women with enough muscle mass to keep them healthy. You can see that Lady Gaga has actual arm muscles.

And I think America Ferrara and Camryn Mannheim are very attractive. I like plump women, thoiugh; I’d date the redhead before Lady Gaga, for example.

Maybe no hanging gut, but that’s a floor length gown so we can’t see the size of her thighs…I mean, really, that picture is not very good for judging her level of fitness, even if it is a flattering picture.

Judging from the girth of her arms, thuogh, and the way the bicep area seems to bunch up a bit, I would say she’s got some padding, she just carries it well.

Yes, Camryn Manheim has joined the ranks of those who flaunted being plus-size and now have lost weight; I’d say she’s overweight but it looks fine.

I don’t judge anyone for what they choose to do, especially for health reasons, but I’m sorry to hear America Ferrara felt it necessary to lose weight.

Funny thing, though, his real name is Aarron.

She looks really cute! Still overweight, but so cute and happy.

Homina homina homina.

One thing was bugging me… I had a roommate named Lesley America <something> who was also dark-haired and gorgeous, and was wondering whether this was the same woman as America Ferrera. But it seems not. A. F. was born in 1984 according to a quick google search, and the roommate was when I was in animation school in late 1992…and she was definitely older than 8.

Okay, first, I gotta say I love this term “fat-glasses.” Ha! Next, that first picture is… Oh gods, I don’t wish to comment on that first picture. Manheim is obese in the picture you linked. In the later post weight loss pic linked in this thread, I’d call her chubby or a little fat, but it looks good on her. Post weight loss America Ferrera is slightly plump, and it looks good on her; I wouldn’t call her fat. We agree on Lady Gaga and Lindsay Lohan. The particular picture you linked isn’t so bad, but Lindsay fluctuates between being a cute little freckled girl whose body weight is healthy and fine, and looking twice her age, while being very heroine chic. Heroine chic Lindsay needs a sandwich.

Well, since I’m a glutton for punishment and everyone is being all honest, I say Do me! Do me!

Do I look fat?
