For not giving me my package filled with the tasty tasty goodness of New Orleans rum.
So I took off work to wait at the house until FedEx arrived so I could sign for my package. Sure, I get it. Shipping alcohol requires a signature by an adult for delivery. Makes perfect sense. So the truck drives up, and the guy gets out… and walks to the house next door. He looks at the address on the door, then kinda wanders out sheepishly.
I call out figuring he just mis-read the address. I wander out, with my ID ready, getting all prepared for the first sip of cajun spiced rum… and he tells me he can’t deliver. The package, which quite clearly states “Dromish” at “one digit off Dromish Address” cannot be delivered to me. They will probably have to ship it back to new orleans, for reshipping. He’s smiling, so I think he’s joking. but… the jokes on me.
So, now I get to spend my night driving up to the FedEx shipping location, which is about an hour away. They’ve told me that I can pick it up there, but I have my suspicions. Why would showing my ID in the warehouse be any different then showing my ID to the driver? So…
FUCK YOU FED EX! Damn you for taking my property and holding it for ransom. And of course we HAVE to make sure the DANGEROUS rum doesn’t go to the wrong person! They might DRINK it, can you imagine? The horror! Cause my name’s so common that the whole damn BLOCK might have the same name. Eat a whole BAG of dicks!
So let me get this straight, the address on the package was wrong. It contained alcohol that needed an adult signature from the address on the package or is could not be delviered, probably by law. And thiks is FedExs fault how? Or am I misreading the OP?
Yeah, you should be pitting the original shipper you ordered from. Presumably, they printed the label. I got dollars the bet FedEx is just protecting its butt on this one. It might even be law.
Of course it’s a case of FedEx covering their ass. If there was actually some kind of wrong-doing, I wouldn’t be whining about it on a message board, I’d be calling someone who can do something about it.
If you don’t see why I’m annoyed that I have to drive an hour each way to show the exact same ID I showed the driver to pick up the package, I don’t know what to say.
It is the shippers fault, but there’s not much they can do about it. As of right now, I either spend 2 hrs tomorrow picking the package up, or I spend two weeks waiting for it to be shipped back to new orleans.
Possibly for not realizing that proof of identity is probably more than enough to keep their asses plenty covered. If he can show ID and claim his package at the shipping facility, I see no reason why he couldn’t do so at his home.
Actually it isn’t, if I recall aright from my FedEx sales days. The rules on wine & alcohol shipping were very specific and quite annoying and drivers could get reamed for not following them.
