I pit fuckface mother fuckers who don't believe that humans are responsible for climate change

You people are the reason why my nieces and nephews are going to have it one hell of lot harder than people of my generation did. Take your SUVs, your wasteful, over-consumption, your smugness, and your Fox News, and shove it up your ass.

I had no idea your nieces might be affected! I shall change my life immediately, you drunk jackass.

I believe humans *are *responsible for climate change. I remain smug, however.

You’re god damn right you will, you sober son of a bitch.

Your nieces and nephews are going to be alive in the year 2100? Good for them!

I’m with ya bro. If only rage changed anything.

Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.

A Zen student came to Bankei and complained: “Master, I have an ungovernable temper. How can I cure it?”
“You have something very strange,” replied Bankei. “Let me see what you have.”
“Just now I cannot show it to you,” replied the student.
“When can you show it to me?” asked Bankei.
“It arises unexpectedly,” replied the student.
“Then,” concluded Bankei, "it must not be your own true nature. If it were, you could show it to me at any time. When you were born you did not have it, and your parents did not give it to you. Think that over.

Bankei don’t know my parents. Think that over.

Are you trying to be an asshole with this shit? Climate change is the single most important issue that humans face and your giving some sort of sermon or something? You think you’re funny? Do you know how many cities we’re going to lose because of the actions of slimebag greedy bastards that care more about the bottom line then the good of the human race?

Maybe asahi is ill-worded, but he is actually correct. What does your post say? Are you showing off how zen you are? How clever you are?

You know what leads to suffering? Starvation, storms, flooding and drought. Hate too, sure, but not on the scale of Climate Change. We’ve already wasted 20+ years and idiots are still trying to stop us from being responsible. It takes collective maturity and regulations, not platitudes.

Ask yourself this question: how is your “even-temper” ever gonna solve shit?

Did “zen” end slavery?

No, rage, and 600,000 dead people did.

Did “zen” end the Holocaust?

No, but the firebombing of Dresden sure as fuck did.

Rage is good. Rage is what this country was founded on. I know you want to sit around and play with apps on your smartphone. And otherwise do nothing.

Fuck you. I don’t care. I’m here to remind you that you’re a fucking waste unless you commit your life to something important.

A total fucking waste, you are.

But you, and your rage… ended slavery? You, and your rage, ended the Holocaust? Of course not. Action, by people not you, did.
You have committed to exactly nothing other than sounding off on a message board.
I temporarily committed to posting a zen koan that was brought to mind.

Like I was alive back then, you fucking moron.

I know you want to live in your Amazon Prime, Comcast, Hulu world where bad shit only happens in movies.

You will see. You will see that I’m right (as usual).

Hey man, it’s Christmas. We can’t be negative now, man. Gotta buy shit on Amazon Prime (where people who deliver your shit work in sweatshop conditions, but none of my business). Gotta watch holiday shit on YouTube. We need to be optimistic and happy.

Just a reminder that wastefulness, SUVs, and over consumption are pretty much perpetrated by climate change deniers and smart people in equal measure.

We know that asahi has already gone all Anakin Skywalker in embracing his rage; but now we are talking about Darth Sidious planning an intervention to tell him just to take a few “me” days and figure some shit out, because he’s really freaking out the other Sith.

asahi you’re getting into a Pit fight on a board where most of us agree with you. We’re just sick of your drunk rages.
ETA: or what Ravenman said.

Sitting around raging and ranting and calling other people names on the internet isn’t doing anything more important than sitting around playing with apps on a smartphone.

If you happen to enjoy righteous outrage, that’s okay, and the Pit is a perfectly appropriate place to indulge in it. But your self-congratulatory “reminders” angrily namechecking important political issues are not actually any more constructive or less recreational than watching movies or internet shopping.

What the climate crisis requires is genuine activism, innovation and education, none of which is provided by sneering and fulminating on messageboards. That’s not to say you can’t sneer and fulminate in the Pit all you want to, just that you’re not fooling anybody into thinking you’re actually accomplishing anything useful by it.

When have you EVER been right? Even when you do have a point (climate change IS an important issue), it’s generally tied up in a load of drunken bullshit.

Please, stop embarassing my side.

Well, yes, but the flaw there is not solely with asahi. If people agree with him, then there is no reason for any to get into a fight. You can just not say anything. Or, if you must, try to say something to help him calm down, as some of you have in this thread.*

But so many people do neither. They respond with insults and poking fun–things that will inevitably make an angry person more angry. And then, when asahi does get predictably mad, he gets made fun of for getting angry. And the cycle repeats–often more people wind up coming in to join in the “fun.”

If people are really tired of these “drunk rages,” I expect them to avoid these threads. If, on the other hand, they come in and post to fan the flames, then it’s clear that asahi is just giving them more of what they want.

*I do question the wisdom in such, though. If he’s truly in a drunk rage, he’s not reasonable, so why try to reason with him? The only poster I see whose post seems actually calming to me is Ulfreida’s post, who lets asahi know he’s been heard. That’s what angry people want, after all.
