Yeah, lets get them out of the military, like we did with all those gay translators. We don’t need people who actually speak Arabic in the military!
You should get muslims out of the military who are openly praising suicide bombers and saying that “his” government is “at war” with his religion. Which he did. Why don’t you start with that. Is that OK? This guy killed 13 people or so, is THAT enough to kick him out of the military? Or should the military apoligize to him and promote him to colonel?
As for “what about Timothey McVeigh!!, huh, huh, huh?”, smarmy comments. Well, duh, guys who are claiming their gov’t is “zionist occupied”, etc. should be investigated and thrown out. As I recall, he had ALREADY left the service when he blew up a building. What were they supposed to do?
Not all terrorists are Muslims, therefore when you have a guy all but wearing a sign saying he wants hates his gov’t and wants violence against it, you should ignore it if he’s a Muslim. Brilliant. That is liberal logic for you. Can’t stop every terrorist, therefore if you try to stop one who is Muslim, you’re racist.
And the liberals pat themselves on the back for their tolerance and righteousness.
I don’t think the OP suggested kicking out all Muslims. It was a “diversity” quest that probably kept him in. Anyone who complained about him was branded “racist” by brain dead liberals.
It has been reported that his fellow doctors were reluctant to report his odd behavior for fear of singling out a Muslim. Now, assuming that is true (and we need some time to get all the facts out here), I think there might have been a bit of PC-ness going on leading up to this tragedy. Still, it’s all too easy after the fact, to bleat on about how this guy should have been obviously watched and probably kicked out of the military. But it’s also possible that doing so would have made him even more militant and taking part in something larger than what he committed.
Whether this ends up being an act of terrorism or “merely” another horrific act of workplace violence remains to be seen. I think a case can be made either way at this point, but mainly because we don’t have enough facts.
Ironically, I was watching FoxNews earlier in the day, and they were syaing not to blame all Muslims for the actions of one disturbed man. Similarly, I was switching back and forth between Fox and CNN yesterday and guess what-- CNN was interviewing an “expert” who claimed this was an act of terrorism while at the same time FOX was interviewing an “expert” who claimed that this had all the hallmarks of workplace violence, and not terrorism.
You guys really need to drop this meme that FOX is the source of any and all misguided claims.
Life is much easier if you just make stuff up.
All of you who think we should keep Muslim soldiers in the military that openly praise suicide bombers and say that their government is at war Islam, please raise your hands.
Any network that has the lack of judgment and morality to keep a nut like Beck on the air has surrendered any chance of being taken seriously.
Given Beck’s erratic, and paranoid behavior don’t you think that Fox should err on the side of caution and keep him out of the building? Do you think that his co-workers are afraid to report him out of a sense of political correctness? When he goes on a killing rampage (again, apparently) it will be easy to see in retrospect that he was a danger to himself and others.
Do you have any evidence whatsoever that anything of the sort happened? Anything other than just knee-jerk liberal-bashing? Facts? Cites?
I’ve never seen his show, so I don’t really know much about him. But that doesn’t really have anything to do with what I was addressing, anyway. Whatever one might think of FOX, there is no reason to think that they are the only or even the main source of putting the idea out there that “PC-ness” had something to do with letting this guy slip through the cracks. I’m seeing that idea floated everywhere.
More likely a desire on the part of the brass to avoid shit from imagined PC hordes in civilian life. I still say attributing PC values to the military itself is an excuse to shift the blame to civilian-instituted “social engineering” and divert criticism from more entrenched military thinking.
Huh. I would not have expected that, but good for Fox and shame on CNN.
Just to be fair, I suspect both networks to have “experts” pushing both ideas. I just happened to catch the situation I described as a coincidence.
Although, I’m watching CNN right now, and the anchor is postulating that the Ft Hood shooter might have gotten his ideas from radical Muslims (although they say we can’t know for sure), and they’re highlighting how some US Muslims are praising him.
I would, but then I’d have to let go of this tree.
What about Bill Kreutzer? He was active duty.
Doesn’t do any of us any good, however. Anybody who shows warning signs of violence should be checked out, and given treatment or confinement, before things get worse, and I think everybody here agrees with that.
No, the OP is just another example of PC, only by the right (Casey is minimizing the sacrifices of Our Brave Fighting Men and Women!!!one!). The right loudly decries political correctness from the left (as it should), but it ignores the fact that it has its own sacred cows, and that it exhibits political correctness with respect to these as much as anyone. God forbid anyone speak ill of Our Brave Fighting Men and Women, or fail to pay sufficient symbolic obeisance to the flag, or the family, or the children, or whatever right-wing shibboleth we are currently worshipping. Bill Maher’s firing post 9-11? Right wing PC. DHS having to quash its own report on the danger of Iraq veterans being recruited to right-wing hate groups? Right-wing PC. The kerfuffle about Obama wearing/not wearing an American flag lapel pin? Right-wing PC. I’ve got an idea–how about we fight PC on both sides of the ideological divide.
I’m ready to fight the use of “PC” and “political correctness.” It’s either that or just label everything said by the other side as being “PC.”
I don’t try to be “politically correct.” If using the word that communicates the best while offending the least is “PC” then someone needs to rewrite the communications textbook from which I used to teach.
To Whom It May Concern:
You may take the expression “politically correct,” write it on a piece of paper, set it ablaze and place it far, far inside your sweetly rounded, cherubic bum.
I didn’t know this was going to become such a Great Debate.
He said that harming the goal of diversity would be a “greater tragedy” than the loss of 12 innocent lives.
I repeat …BULL FUCKING SHIT !
You could interpret what he said to mean “if we can’t find a positive out of this negative, we are in for some rough times”… would that be BS too?
Hasan’s uncle says Hasan knew nothing about any Arab politics, his parents weren’t religious, and he didn’t turn to religion until after his parents’ deaths. Also, that he laughed off the slurs made against him by his fellow soldiers.
New stories say the military knew that not only was he nuts, he was actively trying to contact Al Queda. So apparently they are “raising their hands”. Good liberals, very tolerant of them.
Diversity before safety. Probably just a bunch of racist rubes from flyover country he killed anyway. Probably wouldn’t even have had the sense to vote for free health care.
If you happen to run low on straw, I’ve got a few bales I can part with.
It’s not a straw man at all. The OP complained that the military was putting diversity before safety. Apparently they were doing exactly that. No one wanted to even imply that a Muslim was possibly not “peaceful”. In the military that’s known as a “career ending” move. IE RACIST! Now, what brand of people go around imputing racist motives on just about everyone? That would be liberals.
Liberals on here jumped on him, “why, next thing you know he’ll be complaining about women’s tampons in the PX.”! Yeah, that’s what he meant. No one but white men should be allowed in the military.
