I pit idiotic liberals who encourage children to commit felonies

I had never heard of Rejina Sincic before today. She’s an anti-gun activist who has come up with quite possibly the most incredibly stupid gun-related idea ever. She released a PSA on Youtube, aimed at schoolchildren, which she evidently thinks will reduce gun violence.

I sincerely hope that no child follows her advice. Her video tells children that if they have a gun in their household, they should turn it in–not to the police–that would be bad enough–but, believe it or not, to their school teacher!!!

Here is Eugene Volokh’s opinion:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2014/12/22/how-many-crimes-can-you-see-being-committed-in-this-anti-gun-public-service-ad/

Obviously, any child who did follow the video would be expelled–there have been enough actions under zero-tolerance policies to make that clear. Any child who was simply expelled, and nothing further, would be very lucky.

Lame rant. You’re pitting one moron, not some cabal of felony-inducing lefties.

The video was filmed at the North Oakland Community Charter School in California. So a publicly funded school is being used to promote criminal behavior. Let’s count the felonies being portrayed:

[ul]
[li]Theft[/li][li]carrying a concealed weapon without a license[/li][li]carrying at a bus stop, on a school bus, and in a school[/li][li]The teacher is receiving stolen property[/li][li]The teacher is in possession of a firearm in a school zone.[/li][/ul]

Perhaps they used a prop gun and no actual felonies were being committed - the video was still portraying them as if that was some positive behavior. It could easily have been an airsoft gun, which is also prohibited on school property. It’s also illegal in California to alter a replica firearm in a way to make it look more like a real firearm - though that’s just a misdemeanor.

The original video has now been made private which makes sense since it’s so fucking stupid. Here’s a local news story on the video that echos similar thoughts.

They’ll probably get the David Gregory treatmentwhere apparently it’s okay to flagrantly break laws if you are pushing the desired message.

Where did you hear that that was the reason that Mr. Gregory wasn’t prosecuted?

I’m not a “take all the guns and throw them in the ocean” kind of guy, but I do support extremely tight gun control that I’m sure more than a few folks would object to.

That being said, that video is just flabbergasting. It’s shockingly irresponsible.
Encouraging kids to handle and transport weapons they have no idea how to use safely? How in the living fuck is that in any way, shape, or form a good idea?

Where did you hear that I heard that was the reason that Mr. Gregory wasn’t prosecuted?

Yeah, that was a pretty stupid effort.

As mentioned it completely overlooks every possible adverse effect of the actions portrayed – and while I am against “Zero Tolerance” rules and per-se statutes because I do believe in getting the whole picture (and thus I support the use of prosecutorial discretion in D. Gregory’s case), the reality IS that a minor in possesion on school grounds would be a world of trouble for him. Besides the video essentially paints a picture in which **nobody **takes **any **sensible precaution (from the mother keeping it too easily accesible and out of mind to the kid just carying it around the school) and the only “safe” thing is “take it and keep it away from me”.

Never heard of this person either but I sure would think twice about letting her prepare a campaign for me.

Chefguy has it right - the one thing lots of pits and rants and spewing nonsense on Fox miss.

The world is full of idiots, and sometimes one - note the count there, one - of them stands up and gets their fifteen seconds of attention for being an idiot. Whether it’s some moron who made a YouTube video or a junior state representative (probably from Berkeley) who introduces a bill to ban all cars or guns or Republicans, these trogs do not represent any movement or opinion other than the one rattling around their own empty skulls.

This moron isn’t worth a pit, and the next stupid, dead-on-writing bill some pol waves around to get attention isn’t worth national anger and frothing. Multiply by all the idiots who stand up and say something stupid and get portrayed as a serious or meaningful movement or segment of the demographic.

They’re not. They’re just idiots.

Always thrilled with right wing retards claim that all Liberals are a certain way, which is almost without exception a way that no Liberal I know has ever espoused.

No wonder you idiots are angry all the time. Your media tells you that we (Liberals) are all infuriatingly stupid and wrong, but you don’t ever bother to look at the real world and see that this is bullshit.

Wonderful. Where did your read that happening? Can you quote it?

Obviously I don’t know anything concrete, but call me suspicious. This appears to be by a struggling filmmaker with no ties to any anti-gun group. She said she funded it herself, and had no help from any group. Major gun control organizations have denounced it.

It didn’t get any attention at all until it was “discovered” by gun advocates, and virtually all the Google hits go to right-wing sites.

It has all the hallmarks of a troll job or a publicity stunt.

I reject your broad generalizations and replace them with my own!

All liberals do this.

Regards,
Shodan

PS - I can’t be the only one hoping that the teacher, when confronted by the gun, whipped out one of her own and blew him away. And then committed suicide. Also, the kid looked to be about 15-16. Some of his classmates were 10 or 11. Mainstreaming?

In the name of safety be sure to empty the magazine by firing the gun randomly. If any other bullets are with the gun, reload and keep firing until all the bullets are rendered safe.

Safer just to leave it on a park bench, or behind some bushes somewhere.
Parents who leave guns lying around in places where irresponsible minors can pick them up and carry them off should be reminded that’s a bad practice. What better way than having the kids distribute them free of charge to whomever finds the things?

If your children have that kind of easy access to your guns, you shouldn’t have access to guns.

CMC fnord!

Rush Limbaugh thinks Idris Elba shouldn’t be allowed to play James Bond.

Ha ha, conservatives are so fucking stupid.

God, I sure hope you are. Almost certainly not. But thanks for the Christmas cheer, Mr. Sunshine.

Only a Sith deals in absolutes. Aside from the one I just said.

Me either.
