Well, I disagree with affirmative action except in very specific cases when there is a blindingly obvious problem. I’d rather see some sort of voluntary program to encourage teaching as a career. If black people wanted those jobs they are certainly capable of competing on their own merits without laws to give them an advantage.

Ah grasshopper. When you grow up, you will realize that in any situation where you feel tempted to brag about how much you make, it is likely there will be someone who makes more than you there. By defining your value in terms of finances, you have announced to the room you are less valuable than that person. If you are in the odd situation where you are the richest person in the room in that sense, then people will merely look at you wondering why you aren’t purchasing more drinks for everyone.
It’s a common pattern in DC when the new associates get their first pay checks and run out to play.
You have, however, managed to make it pretty certain that in every gathering you are the biggest dickhead in the room. And you communicate it pretty successfully to everyone. So why not rest on your laurels for that?
