Ahh. Very nearly. Rand Rover is a hypocrite in the way everyone else who calls people on emotionally based arguments on this message board, with the possible exception of Sentient Meat, is.
I understand Rand Rover’s point, but I think that by the evidence of black women in the profession it’s not that black men are incapable of becoming teachers, they just for some reason don’t desire to become teachers to the same degree as people of other genders or ethnicities. While discriminatory hiring practices are bad on their face, I think that it’s a matter of encouragement. But then I can see why people don’t want to become teachers when the salary they are likely to make is comparable to that of a garbage man who doesn’t have to deal with 5 years of school and $ 100k of debt.
Carefully remove your head from your ass and read the thread, and the cites that say having a race and gender matched role model is beneficial to students. Now explain to me why hiring race and gender matched teacher is not just finding the right people for the job, and is in fact “fucking retarded without any merit whatsoever.” I’ll be waiting.
Because casting choices for a movie are different for what should be obvious fucking reasons and no one is suggesting that they are different honestly, they are just trying to get a cheapass ‘gotcha’. So I respectfully disagree with your diagnosis of who has their head up their ass. There is a head up and ass between the two of us, and it is certainly NOT me in this case.

I personally think that every adult is obligated to live their life in such a manner that any child would want to be like that adult. In other words, you’re a living example of being a decent human being.
I’ve been told by folks in Boston that noone that plays for the Yankees is a good person, and the only people who play guitar are hippies, rock stars, and pick up artists. No decent people on that list either.
