I pit Martin Hyde (a different Martin Hyde)

Just saw this snob in a video online. He was pulled over by a policewoman & started acting like he could go over her head. All the time speaking in this upper-class English accent.

Turns out he’s “Martin Hyde”, a GOP primary challenger in Florida’s 16th Congressional District (just south of Tampa Bay).

And he’s English.

Anyway, he gets a Pit thread because at one point he accused the police officer of being a Russian immigrant. Of course he can’t hear that she has nothing foreign in her accent, because there’s almost nothing American in his. And he thinks he can run for Congress!

He’ll lose, of course.

But the Brits need to be educated on the matter that this is not the Commonwealth & they are not the ruling class here.

He’s a peach.

I say, old boy. There’s no need to smear an entire nation just because of one fool.

In any case around 74 million Americans voted for Trump in the last election.
Perhaps you could give your opinion of them.

P.S. Here’s a typical Trump candidate:

A Sarasota candidate for Congress says he would have killed the FBI agents who searched former President Donald Trump’s property if they tried to do the same thing to his home.
“I wish they’d turn up at my home 'cause they’d have gone home in a body bag,” Sarasota businessman Martin Hyde says in a new video.
Hyde is a Republican running for Congress against U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Longboat Key.

Yeh, that’s the biggest problem in America, Brits trying to regain their power, not fascism, systemic racism, lack of health care, endemic corruption, climate collapse, more systemic racism, obesity, or the collapse of our public education system. Our biggest problem is Brits with an attitude.

Hear! Hear!

and sadly also school shootings and gerrymandering.

Could someone please give us definitive answers on some important questions? The articles online I’ve checked say that he was born in the U.K. and that he now lives in Sarasota, Florida. Is he now an American citizen? Nothing I’ve read online discusses this. If he isn’t an American citizen, how could he run for Congress? Given that he grew up in the U.K., it would be surprising if he didn’t speak with a British accent. You generally don’t lose your accent if you immigrate as an adult. Listening to him speaking in an online interview, I’m not sure that I would characterize his accent as being upper-class. In an online copy of the police officer’s recording of the stop, she doesn’t speak with any noticeable accent indicating that she was an immigrant from anywhere. Is there any other recent case where someone born in the U.K. thinks that they can influence anything in the U.S. because they are British? I don’t know of any. I’m not sure why the matter of where he was born comes up if he is now an American citizen.

I agree that it’s mostly irrelevant, except if the above summary of the clip is true. I am not going to search for a video of the interaction or anything, but if he really did think that someone was a Russian immigrant, and that was important, then it is fair to contrast with why he does not think that being a British immigrant is important.

Oh yeah, guns, so many fucking guns and did I mention systemic racism?

He must have been for at least 7 years.

No person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the age of twenty five years, and been seven years a citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an inhabitant of that state in which he shall be chosen.

Hey, I live in the Boston area and Irish immigrants (and I mean people born in Ireland) complaining about American-born Asian-Americans changing the character of their communities is commonplace.

I found an article online that gives some more information about Hyde. It says that he moved to Sarasota thirty years ago. This gives him enough time (seven years) to become an American citizen and another seven years as a citizen to become eligible to sun for Congress. It’s strange though that no article mentions when he became a citizen. The article also says that he grew up in the Crystal Palace neighborhood of London. I think that it’s unlikely that a person growing up there would speak with an upper-class accent, but I’m not sure:

Oooh, whataboutism.

Here it is if anyone wants to see it.

You might want to look at this YouTube video about a vaguely similar situation:

And another one to look at:

Another video about Hyde particularly:

I won’t post any more videos, but you should be able to find more of them on YouTube with people arguing with a police officer.

Didn’t one of the two traitor loons, Boebert or Greene, introduce legislation attempting to prohibit naturalized citizens being eligible to serve in Congress? I wonder how Mr. Hyde feels about that.

What a turd.

Just a couple days ago, Marcell Ozuna, an Atlanta Braves player busted for speeding and DUI, pulled the do-you-know-who-I-am.

"The reporting officer wrote in his report that as soon as he approached the car, the driver said “sorry, sorry, I’m Ozuna from the Braves.”

"The officer reportedly smelled alcohol and observed that Ozuna’s eyes were red and watery. The officer then asked Ozuna why he was in Norcross and he replied “the party.”

Really, it should be OK to drive drunk and do 90 in a 35 mph zone if you’re with the Atlanta Braves.

I literally laughed out loud when he thought he was dropping a bombshell on the second cop who showed up, saying that he was cited for not providing registration when asked, yet here is the registration. The cop casually noted that the registration was expired.

Also, he was indignant about being pulled over when he was observed breaking 2 laws simultaneously, demanding whether the officer knows who he is, then later said he isn’t asking for special treatment.

He also claimed to be a law-abiding citizen. I think he is a sexist jerk and I am sorry I can’t personally vote against him.
