I pit my failure to follow my instincts

That’s what I was thinking should happen. I’m glad you found a lawyer who seems to know what he’s doing.

A realistic, worthy goal.

Can I add my gripe here?

My sister died in another city and left her estate to her ex husband. They had been fighting for a while and didn’t like each other at all for the last 4-6 months. In fact, he was suing her at the time she died! But she apparantly never did change her will (although I have my suspicions that she did and he took it), so it is still valid.

Whatever.

But, she owes between $7,000 and $9,000 to various people from whom she borrowed money over the 2 or so months before her death, and in both her and my towns.

Since her ex doesn’t communicate with me or the people from our town, I had a friend in his town watching the local paper for the notice of claims against the estate. He never saw one. And I’ve been checking idocket.com almost daily waiting for the will to go to probate so I (and we) could file our claims. I have an attoney in the town, too, who I will call on Mondy. He should have caught this, I think.

So what do I find today?

The will was filed on 4-2 and “disposed”, which I think means finished, on 4-28.

I’m out about $850.00, my brother is out $1000, another lady is out $300 and a fourth guy is out 3,000…and that’s just our area.

I sure hope my ex BIL has not decided to just not pay her debts. He is well aware of what they are.
