I pit my laziness.

We have movers coming to move us into our new house at 9 AM tomorrow. We’ve had the movers hired for three weeks. So tonight was supposed to be spent packing.

I expected to get home around 6 o’clock tonight, but I got fired this morning. So I was able to leave work at 11:30 (okay, I was HIGHLY upset earlier today, but after talking to some friends whose resume business I’ve worked for part-time for eight months is starting to boom and now I’m going to work from home full-time on a trial for them, so I’m feeling better…still, being fired is a bitch…huge blow to your pride…). I came home and went to lunch with my husband. Then I came home and had a conference call with my friends to determine my employment. Then I realized that I was emotionally drained and really needed a nap. So I slept until about six with my two cats curled up next to me.

Then I got up to pack. We have our bookshelves packed - all seven of them. Those we packed last weekend. We still have the kitchen to pack, the bedroom, some of the living room, and the guest room.

What have I done? I just finished watching a lovely episode of Felicity while wrapping up some valuables. Took me an hour to pack that one box. I don’t watch Felicity, but all of a sudden, I’m watching it.

I lit a candle for the Pope and prayed - this, of course, to me and others, is not a wasted moment. But now I can’t stop watching the news because I’m afraid if I turn the channel, I’ll miss an announcement. I’m eating some leftovers from lunch for dinner. Anything to avoid packing.

I really need to pack.

(I know we’re in the Pit, but I’m not feeling much like throwing out a lot of vitriol. I just wish I could wave a hand and have everything packed up for us.)

Oh, and I’d get my husband to help, but he’s working right now - stupid newspaper.

You’re not lazy, you’ve just had a rough day. It takes a little time to bounce back from getting fired. Good luck with the moving! I’m sure you’ll get everything packed up and ready to go by tomorrow. I hope the resume-writing job works out for you.

Enjoy your new house! Are we all invited to the house-warming party?
