I pit my new boyfriend for not buying me a Xmas present!

But it’s not ‘recent documents’, and it doesn’t tell you what files used to be in there and have since been deleted.

What’s strange to me is that she specifically said file, not folder or directory, and referred to it as ‘recent documents.’

And sometimes people misspeak. Nor do they necessarily understand exactly what they are looking at on their computer. I haven’t done end user support in a number of years, but the number of otherwise intellegent people who referred to their monitor as their computer was pretty astouding. With caching and a recycle bin, the definition of “deleted” is a little fuzzy even to me.

I got it. That helped me find more relevent threads like one about “The girl whose life he ruined”. Yeah, he looks like a putz. Subtle though.

The OP here is kind of similar with the disingenuous feel. I do swear the OP was a plot of and episode Sex and the City and it really, really, truly pains me to admit I’ve actually seen a bit of that show. The girl I was dating at the time liked it … Really! She made me watch it!.. Afterwards I’d tune into a good hockey fight to re-equalized my testosterone level.

However, playing the Devil’s Advocate:
Remember the aspiring actress I referred to in my post way back in this thread? The one who is dating the older lawyer. I could totally see her writing a similar OP because she thrives on the kind of melodrama that would get you riled up back in the 9th grade.

I met the girl when my sister’s team had a BBQ for friends and family. The woman seems to be just shy of 30. One the one hand, she’s NOT stupid, but on the other she is such a teenage drama queen! I was recently in a bar where she was telling complete strangers the details of this very emotionally distressing dream she had in which she killed a baby through negligence. It was like she was expecting everyone to jump on board with “OMG, how awful for you!”

I could see her writing the OP and it would come across the same way.

I bet if you talked to the OP’s “boyfriend” his version of events would be completely different – that when the OP says “He told me such-and-such” the reality would be that the OP inferred such-and-such when he said something completely different. And I bet if you asked, he would say the “relationshp” is a lot more causal than the OP makes it seem.

She also said she was “fixing his internet” so her grasp of terminology obviously isn’t great.

If he had deleted the offending visits from his History and left them in the Temporary Internet File it would show that he had gone there and that he wanted to hide that fact by deleting.

If he’s one step up from clueless he would know how to delete individual History entries and not know about the cache, if that’s what that file is called. I’m not always sure of the correct names of things even though I know how to do a lot.

I miss START. I always wanted to believe he was real.
