I Pit Myself for Exceptional Geekness

Today I was reading the “Weekend Web” article at Something Awful.

On page six, the author made a joke about “women leaving in a flash” for a photo of a loser wearing a superhero tee-shirt. The guy at the bottom of this page.

The Wife wanted to know what I was laughing at. I explained that it was funny that the writer did not knowq that the loser was not wearing a Flash logo on his shirt; this particular lightening bolt was the symbol of Captain Marvel… you know, SHAZAM!..

She just looked at me with that sad, disappointed look and shook her head slowly.

Curse you, you big red cheese!

Oh, thank Juju. I appreciate your taking one for the team, Doc.

I noticed it as well, but to my great fortune, my wife was nowhere nearby, so I was left with muttering “dork” to myself.

Hey! Check out the nerds!

Pardon me for not being geeky enough, but what the heck are the people in almost every photo in that linked page wearing on their wrists?

What? You aren’t a sentai fan? You deserve to have your name stricken from the ranks of Nerds forevermore.

Pitted? My friend, you should be commended!

Dude! Power Rangers came to America when I was already too old for it. And my whole experience with anime begins and ends with Sailor Moon and Pikachu.

Who is talking about “Power Rangers”?

I am talking about looking through poorly photocopied zines from the 70s and 80s detailing plot summeries of untranslated Giant robot shows, coppied off 4th generation copies of the video tapes.

Y’know, now that you bring it up, I have just such tapes of the classic Japanese series 5 Man lying around here somewhere.

Way I figured it back in the day, if you’re gonna go geek and you choose the Power Rangers as your route, you’d better at least be hardcore about it.

This thread belongs in either Cafe Society or the very bowels of hell itself. I’m thinking Cafe Society.

There’s a difference?
