I, SanguineSpider, being of sound mind (I hope) and body (trying), promise to never, ever post another link on these fine boards on off chance I might offend one or more members of the teeming masses. I am sorry if any link ever I posted did offend, insult, make afraid, challenge, frighten, piss off, make tinkle, make gassy, upset, make cry, or otherwise harmed anyone in any way, shape or form EVER!

I have a curious mind. I search for strange things like a joyful child, I quest for knowledge that some might fear. I’m SORRY if in my exuberance, I post something I didn’t take the time to ponder who might get upset by. I will think twice, thrice and twenty times before ever posting a link on the boards again. I’ll still post comments but no more links… not if they may offend.

My posting a link is not an intention of harming anyone but only sharing the strangeness, richness, wackiness that is our world. When I laugh, it’s also at myself. I need humor to deal with things and I need humor to be human, and a nice human at that.

Take my “Babes with Blades” post. They are hilarious BUT I also wondered what I would look like on that site, weilding a blade in my skivvies or mythical robes but alas, I am far too chicken to post any pics, unlike the fearless warriors represented there. The site was funny but I enjoy all things HUZZAH and laugh at my quirks just as much! I’m into nerdy things and love that I am, I laugh when I talk about some of my hobbies because, frankly, they are WEIRD! Deal with it, you say? I do… I laugh at myself. I don’t take things so personally and I can’t take myself seriously ALL THE TIME or the stress would kill me dead. Dead as a doorknob, dead as dead.

I PIT myself though for all the reasons mentioned above and sorry this was so long :frowning: …

It’s not necessary to be that extreme. Just give it a little thought next time. There are some really offensive things out there. I don’t think anyone thought you were intentionally trying to offend but mistakes do happen. If someone points out that something is offensive to them, however, it’s good manners to not try to argue that they’re wrong. Accept that they are offended and decide whether or not you’d wish to repeat the offense.

Too many opinions out there for me to even think it’s safe, which is fine, BTW. I just won’t post links. Simple. I’m not arguing that they are wrong. Be offended, don’t be offended. I’m just trying to explain my childlike wonder for the wacky world at large and how I view everything as possible knowledge. If I get offended at something I view, then it’s my fault for looking.

Now, we are speaking of pretty basic things here. I don’t agree with child porn, rape, murder, breaking of laws, killing of animals, destroying the environment on purpose… you get my drift.

Eve, this post is somewhat tongue-in-cheek… again the humor thing I am oh, so fond of. Honestly, I am sorry. I will just not post any links because I hate flack. Gimme no flack! I should have thought first, I didn’t and I am acknowledging that fact. That’s pretty much all I can say.

SanguineSpider - Don’t feel too bad! I too fall into the basket of those who were unaware that such a link would be offensive. Now that it has been pointed out though, I can see how it could hurt some feelings. But I think everyone knows that you didn’t do it in spite or though a casual disregard of others. In general, your posts are amusing and your good nature is readily apparent.:wink:

cankerist, thank you too! I’m a goofball sometimes but it’s nice to know that other Dopers consider me having a good nature. I can be a true and evil bitch but for the most part I try to NOT hurt anyone. Unless, they hurt me first and then it’s ON, buddy! It’s ON! (hardy har har)

Thanks, Shirley Ujest! I think most of us post a funny and/or awesome thread at least once in our lifetimes. Sometimes more. I seriously love the SDMB! Oh shoot! I never had a “1000 Post Party”, darn it all!
