I like your name. I had noted the occasional reference to the porn star in threads you were posting in, and sort of sighed. I can understand it getting to you. If I were you, I’d just pop something in my sig to the effect that people’s assumptions are mistaken. If you want to be really snooty, you could imply that it’s because they’re culturally less literate than you But I’m a troublemaker.
I feared that you’d be subject to that reference, but figured you’re a smart woman, and as such will ignore the more feeble-minded among us. Waste not your energies on such.
The first time I saw The Philadelphia Story, I was disappointed to find that the hardcore three-way sex scene with Tracy, C.K. and Mike that I was expecting was apparently left on the cutting room floor.
I wonder what our own **C K Dexter Haven ** would have to say about this situation.

I like the name (and the character!) too much to change it – so far, we’ll see what happens the umpteenth time somebody pulls it out in the Pit – but it’s just…grating. Insulting.
On the plus side, it is a nice gauge of cultural literacy. No offense any of you who haven’t seen the show ;).

FTR, The Philadelphia Story is one of my favorite movies, and I still think of the porn star every time I see your username. :rolleyes: I’m not sure what that says about me.
I was always under the imression that the actress got that name from Hepburn’s character. And Tracy I got the reference right away. I even considered using Mike Connor and a screen name here, but backed off when I saw that C K Dexter Haven was already used. It made me think that all the names from TPS were in use here.
A couple of years ago, someone with a name like “Allison Ryan” or “Anna Ryan” in real life registered on my forum.
The username she chose? Aryan. I thought the forum was being invaded by a user of some supremacist message board, until I asked “Aryan” for an explanation. She had no clue about what the word “aryan” meant, and the beliefs of those who would usually choose that name for a message board.
But I’m a troublemaker.
