You know, I know a lot of Christians who are out there doing things like feeding the hungry, caring for the homeless, and generally doing good in the world. I’ve got a lot of respect for them, and I try to be more like them. Then there are Christians like Omegaman.

Look, Omegaman, I’m sure you’re trying to do good in your own way, but this is not the way to go about it. Have you read The Screwtape Letters? If not, pick up a copy. Yes, I believe evil exists. I also believe it’s not the grand, glorious, evils that are the most dangerous, but the small, petty ones. I won’t kill anyone today, but I may forget myself and be rude to them. Unlike you, sir, I won’t blame Satan, though, just my own, fallible human nature. Do me a favor. Reread the 25th chapter of Matthew, especially the ending. Remember the words of good old St. Francis of Assisi: “Proclaim the Gospel at all times. Use words if necessary.”

The OP wasn’t bringing the good news of Salvation, at least not to this crowd. Instead, you’re passing on more fear, hatred, and destruction. Those tactics don’t work here. Consider James 2:18: “But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.” What you’ve done has only damaged Christianity’s reputation among those who post here, and, Lord knows, our poor, old religion’s got a poor enough reputation!

Oh yes, one last question. What do you have to say about a person who’s been turned away from Christianity by the actions of Chrisians? Would a just god condemn such a person?

I’ve hung around Southern Baptists and other even more hardcore anti-demon crowds, Assemblies of God for one, and I can say that, for myself, I honestly understand you have a good intention in starting this pitting. I’ve seen this attitude before. Maybe I’m being naive, but I do think you’re sincere and honestly pitting Satan.

The thing is though, is that Satan, assuming he exists, is not going to be harmed or even offended in any way by this rant. On the contrary, if anything he would be enjoying the religion-bashing and personal snipes wizzing around in this thread. IMO, this thread was a foolish endeavour.

Speaking of Satan, my mystical side desires to warn you about your mindset towards the occult. Demons are not to be mocked, teased, or messed with. The bottom line is that God is the “BIG BOY” and I doubt you personally are going to “ruin his [Satan’s] groove.” I’m really trying not to be snide here, but I’ve seen that mindset before, and while I dont think anything happened to those people, I dont think it’s healthy.

Ok, I’m on the atheist side of agnostic, so I’m going to be arguing from a somewhat devil’s (oh noes!) advocate position, but let me see if I’ve got this straight:

  1. You say you believe Jesus is God.
  2. You also say Jesus isn’t here now.
  3. Therefore, by your own logic (such as it is), God isn’t here (because God and Jesus are the same entity, according to 1) ).
  4. The Bible says that God is omnipotent, meaning he is everywhere at every time
    1. contradicts 3)
  6. Might want to reconsider your belief system there, Bucky.

Given some of the things you said in your OP, you’ve still got a long way to go.

Still, by board rules, witnessing threads are supposed to go in GD, and the rules would also prevent others from personally inulting you there (though you might get challenged on a theological/philospohical level like what I’ve done here).

My question is if Satan is really as evil as you say, then why does Jesus/God allow him to continue to exist? There doesn’t have to be a final conflict or a battle. All God has to do is blink him out of existence. Satan can only exist if God wants him to, so why does God want him to?

I don’t see your posts as hateful. I actually see them as fairly well intentioned – maybe defensive at times, but that’s understandable. I don’t think you’re mean spirited (at least not from what I’ve read).
