I don’t understand some of the OP’s, shall we say, metropolitan situation. Where does one “flag down” a pizza delivery person? Until reading this thread, I was under the impression that pizzas were not sold in the same manner as Good Humor Ice Cream.

Probably flagging her down because they ordered, pizza delivery drivers used to before the days of GPS have a hard time finding my house so I’d walk down to the nearest intersection about twenty minutes after ordering to watch for them and flag them down.

Nothing in the OP sounds remotely familiar, and I delivered pizza for a year. Including to a state mental hospital. None of that ever happened to me.

As did I for eight years or so, in various areas from upscale suburbs to sketchy ghettos to the heart of downtown, from gated country clubs to apartments to hospitals to skyscrapers, and it doesn’t sound familiar to me either. Then again I tended not to “pull over for some reason,” nor would I have been inclined to stop for random people in a neighborhood “flagging me down.” I took the deliveries to whoever ordered them, and the only other people to deal with might’ve been a security guard or receptionist. Comments from others tended to be “mmm, that smells good!” and “got any extra for me? Heh heh heh!”

Glad to hear the OP’s employed, though. Are you working directly for a pizza restaurant, or just taking pizzas you happen to find in other people’s cars and reselling them?

I delivered pizza for three years, including the month after 9/11, and nobody asked me shit. And I look like a terrorist!

I’m sure this is possible, but it seems like a pretty high number to me.

That’s about 28 deliveries a day, every single day, for five years. How many shifts a week did you do? How many deliveries per shift?

Full time 40 hour week comes out to about 5 pizzas an hour. Doesn’t seem that high to me.

You might be right.

But she said “deliveries,” not pizzas. It seems to me that, between driving back and forth, parking, delivering, and going back to the restaurant to pick up new orders (and sometimes wait for them), it might be difficult to maintain a constant rate of 5 deliveries per hour.
