I’m sitting here in my office, thinking that I love snow. I love waking up to a winter wonder land…I know that when I wake up to such a scene I will be out with the dog plowing the drive way…throwing snow-balls at my wife and essentially behaving like a kid…
Ok I woke up this morning to a winter wonderland…Very excited, I quickly plowed the drive and hopped in my truck and went to school…I’m now sitting here watching the snow turn to complete rain and hating every minute of it. I had 3 students show to the first class. (this is a mainly campus centric school, meaning we have very few commuters) and yet the students took it of their own accord not to walk to class…maybe thinking they would slip or something…???
It’s now raining on the 3 inches of fresh snow we HAD. My TA is teaching my afternoon classes and I was hoping to watch the snow from my window while I work on mid-terms… Denied again in this Coastal Connecticut Sludge!
We should have moved to colorado when we had the chance…
I’m in Boston and the snow is turning wet now, probably soon to turn to rain/sleet. But in the mountains of NH and VT it’s going to stay snow! Come up north tomorrow and play. I wasn’t planning on going north this weekend because I’m tired of driving to bad snow, but I just changed plans and will head up tomorrow morning. Gotta take advantage of snow before the inevitable rain, freeze, crust cycle happens.
Telemark - Do you telemark? I gave it up as my knees are not as strong as they once were…snowboarding is much nicer on my knees. Can blow away most kids 15 years younger too I’d love to come up and play this weekend…I was at Jay Peak in January and it was absolutely splendid! I love Jay!
But of course I tele. I’m headed up tomorrow for some more backcountry skiing in the Whites, might do some lift served at Cannon on Sunday or more backcountry if the snow is good.
Tele is good for the knees, keeps them flexible and loose.
yeah yeah good on the knees…makes your quads like tree trunks etc…etc… Uhhh…no. can’t do it anymore…but I always give lots of kudos to those guys and gals I see doing it…especially if they have really good form and you can tell they have been doing it for a while.
Here in Northern MA, we got what looks to me to be about 6 inches of snow since I got here this morning (amateur eyeball estimate from a 3rd floor window), and now it’s turned to rain. I am so NOT going to love driving home today. It will probably take me a couple of hours.
Here in DC, it’s been nasty and icy and slushy all day. With the last of the melting snow, there is standing water as much as 3-4 inches deep in some spots. Ick.
We have the same situation here in the mid-atlantic. I was so looking forward to a good clean snow.
Well, I got my snow. 3 inches, not bad. Then came the sleet, freezing rain and now it’s just rain. I wouldn’t be surprised to see hail. Soon it will all be ice anyway.
